--After failing to land veteran wide receiver Troy Brown, who was offered more money than he received to return to the New England Patriots, Saints coach Jim Haslett and General Manager Mickey Loomis say that they're prepared to go into the season with the receivers they have.

"In a perfect world, we'd like to add another veteran guy, but we'll just have to see what happens," said Loomis, who brought in former St. Louis Rams and Detroit Lions wide receiver Az-Zahir Hakim for a visit earlier this month. "I wouldn't call it a critical need."

Wideout Jerome Pathon was released during the off-season, which opened the job as the third receiver to second-year pro Devery Henderson. But the Saints also brought in former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Nate Poole, which suggests that the third spot behind Joe Horn and Donte Stallworth remains open going into training camp.

Also on the Saints' roster are the fourth and fifth receivers from last season, Michael Lewis and Talman Gardner, but both are role players. Lewis is the team's top kick returner and Gardner has excelled on special teams.

--Three Saints players were on the rosters of the two teams that played in World Bowl XIII on Saturday.

Guard Chad Setterstrom, an All-NFL Europe League pick, and tackle Ben Archibald, started for the Amsterdam Admirals, while quarterback Chris Finlen was with the Berlin Thunder in the title game at Dusseldorf, Germany.

While Setterstrom and Archibald started all 10 regular-season games for the 6-4 Admirals, Finlen played in seven games and completed 17 of 31 passes for 188 yards and a TD as a backup for the Thunder, who posted the league's top mark at 7-3 this spring.

--Saints coach Jim Haslett and his three young children, Kelsey, Chase and Libby, appear on the cover of this month's issue of New Orleans CityLife magazine.

They're featured in a story for Father's Day, which is June 19. In the article, which is titled "Pops Rock," Haslett talks about his children and they get to talk about their dad.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"I just would have liked to have (Troy Brown) on the team because he's a guy that's a winner. He's been great in the locker room. He's a good football player. I don't think it's a glaring need, I really don't, because I'm counting on Devery Henderson. But if there is somebody out there we think can give us some help, you're always looking to better your football team." -- Saints coach Jim Haslett on his team's search for another veteran wide receiver.
