How can Goodell get canned ?
this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Kraft may have stood up to him but Tom Brady was suspended four games, Patriots fined $1 million and docked two draft choices as 'DeflateGate' punishment. KRAFT REALLY SHOWED HIM!!!...

First, it's not our league, it's owned by 32 franchises. If you don't like what's happening, you stop buying direct sales, and you stop buying products that provide indirect income (advertising, television contracts)...
Second, Goodell is hired, paid handsomely to deal with the disgruntled mob crowed so the owners can enjoy their revenue in peace and quiet; if a majority of owners are made uncomfortable, then you'll see action... Third, stop waiting for 32 fan bases to come together in solidarity when the product is based on 32 fan bases competing; that's the secret - 32 rival markets all wanting to be best... Fourth, stop with this We the People - The only thing We the People are guaranteed are in the U.S. Constitution Bill of Rights; that's the healthy attitude moving forward; everything else - work for it... Fifth, you want your product to change? State your intention to stop buying the product as is directly to owners; if the owners fail to make a better offer - move on with your money... I've watched, bought season tickets (in the past), spend money when out with friends watching the game, and even my time hear with this online community - so, yeah, I'm invested... If there's something I don't like, I cut back (stop ESPN Subscription, stop NFL Licensed Products Purchases, stop support heavy advertisers). When it makes me totally unhappy, I'll stop watching as well... I Enjoy Saints Football, online reading/writing here with y'all at Black & Gold - I really do, even those I disagree. When either of those things make me that miserable, I reach out for change or I get out... But the mourning period should cease; not saying forget, accept Payton called a real bad game and, as most Saints fans should know, especially those that have watched as long as I have... Remember the lesson of Ambush, MAKE YOUR OWN DESTINY - NEVER LET THE REFS DECIDE IT... |

Teams can move to another city virtually at will. Ask Baltimore, Cleveland, Houston, Saint Louis, San Diego, Los Angeles and Oakland. The NFL AKA THE OWNERS wanted at least one team in Los Angeles again. Took them a while but now there are two. The fact that the REFS CAN DECIDE IT renders the "INTEGRITY OF THE LEAGUE" as PHONY AS A WHORES PASSION!! For NFL team owners the GRASS is GREENER on the other side. As P.T. You think NBA owners aren't a little nervous right now that the AAF scored better overnight numbers than the NBA? The NBA forgot its lessons from the 70s when thug life took over the game and let the inmates run the asylum... You've got players, agents, teams colluding so the same ole markets will have dominant teams reducing the diaspora of talent, reducing smaller markets to nothing more than Harlem Globetrotter opponents... And don't think the NFL doesn't have a problem either, nor recognizes now the power of smallest true market (New Orleans) in the NFL... They just moved a team from San Diego to LA and couldn't give away tickets, even with Rivers and that team having the second best record in the AFC... Don't think the NFL is sweating behind closed doors when their numbers were whacked because some of some not-so-smart politics was allowed to intrude on folks' Sunday to get away from the noise for a few hours... The aggravation is aggregating... |

So technically, yeah, he did show him by taking it to court. Patriots still won the Super Bowl that year. They've won three since Deflategate, forcing that smug clown to hand over the Lombardi to Kraft on the podium while being booed endlessly. |

Realistically I think it takes a large majority of owners votes to remove him, but also a large majority to approve his next contract. So his weakness comes when his contract expires, which unfortunately is not for like 5 years.
