It sure didn't help his cause when he became a ghost in NO after serving that suspension either.

Sometimes we take for granted Brees' amazing ability read, react, and distribute the ball to so many different receivers...

Perfect and it’s the reason we need to regroup we have one legit and many in transitions.i know it would be another blessing draft to get a kamara type slot receiver out of it.its our history to have that ace in the hole to bail Brees out

Re: Saints aren't good enough at receiver to cut Cameron Meredith

This was the worst receiving corps in the Payton era. They ranked outside the top 5 on yardage offense for the first time, largely due to how bad they hit the floor in that slump beginning with the Dallas game. They were never the same again after Dallas held them to 10 points.

To be fair, the WR corps was a problem in 2017 too. It's why they ran more of a Smashmouth style offense that year with Ingram and Kamara as their main strength. I said it all last year that the 2017 Saints were not well equipped to engage teams in shoot outs. We seen it in 3 of their losses that year (Minnesota, New England and Atlanta).

Brees has been as productive as ever at 38 and 39 years old, but he doesn't have loads of weapons to pick from like back in the day.

There is a reason they kicked the tires on a washed up Dez Bryant and later Brandon Marshall whom no one wanted at all.

We need WRs. You can talk about the blown non-call until you're blue in the face, but lack of WRs is what killed it for us going back to that game where Dallas exposed this as the major weakness of the team.

Go back to the final 6 weeks of the season (excluding the Carolina loss) where Brees' stats fell down to the floor and we struggled (including playoffs). All those games played out the same. Offense struggling, cause teams locked down and took MT and Kamara away from Brees or slowed them down to the point they couldn't go off. We couldn't even shut the door on the Eagles in that playoff game where we were dominating them, all cause of the offense struggling.

All the games we were blowing out teams, we were having STRONG performances by Thomas and/or Kamara just exploding and taking over games. None of these other WRs took over games at all. That was the blueprint to shutting our offense down - take away or minimize MT and Kamara, then they struggle all day moving down the field. The other WRs never stepped up during the year and Payton didn't really have an alternative to it.

We need WRs bad. If they don't get a #2 guy to help take the pressure off Thomas, then we are going to be in trouble next year. I wish we had a guy like how New England has Edleman. Edleman is there to take the pressure off Gronk and it works.

Outside of MT all of our WRs are trash. They could all go and we wouldn’t lose much.
Must get a TE in free agency.
At WR I’d like to get Dez back and healthy then sign Tate or Humphries.

I would take any other teams #2,3 and 4 WRs over ours.

I don't believe Dez is the answer that many think he is. People have to take into consideration that no other team wanted him and there is a reason why. We didn't even want him until we got to a point desperation half way into the season. His glory days are long behind him.

I agree that a TE is an absolute most. I wish Graham would've come back here, instead of chasing money in Green Bay where the cult of Aaron Rodgers was quick to throw him under the bus and blame him for their narcissistic baby QB's accuracy problems.

I still like what Jesse James (TE) brings to the table.

He shouldn't break the bank and he's an upgrade over JHill. Jesse has very good hands (30 passes caught on 39 targets) & also blocks extremely well. A guy you can trust in clutch moments.

Another thought on Sigler's article - Saints marched a No. 1 seed with a seemingly Superbowl appearance in hand, sans worst-missed-call-ever, all with no Cam Meredith - so his argument is false...

Kirkwood is the next Colston and with Thomas, Smith, Meredith and Bryant we will have one of the best WR Corps in the NFL!

Kirkwood needs to move in with Drew. They need to get on the same page until they are finishing each other’s sentences.
