I think this signing makes sense for us as long as we didn't overpay. What else were we going to do? Trade up in the draft for a TE with the picks we don't have?

I hope we didn't over pay but Cook is a great tight end. He's an excellent blocker to boot. I'm looking forward to seeing him in Black and Gold.

Good pickup. Extremely difficult to get a decent TE these days. Only about 4 decent ones. After that it falls off a cliff. Drafting one is not an option because they normally take years to develop. If he stays healthy no reason he can't hit 1K yards and 10 plus TDs.

Shored up? We had the 8th highest rated offensive line following week 17 of last season. The only starter being replaced is Unger, and he was playing hurt down the stretch. Brees ended up being the least sacked starting QB in the entire league. There is no reason for someone to believe that we won't have one of the top tier offensive lines in the NFL once again ... unless that someone is an eternal pessimist.
