Re: Third Down Receiver Rankings
Michael Thomas had the best season of a Saints WR in our franchise history last year.
It's not all about big yardage stats. People think Brandin Cooks is amazing due to the yards he racks up. MT's catch rate percentage made him the top ranked WR through the AV ranking last year on Pro Football Reference. He was also our highest ranked player with AV. I never missed Cooks in 2017 cause MT in just his rookie season of 2016 was everything that Cooks could never be. He would catch balls in coverage, had far better field position and like this stat proves; reliable on third down. I didn't miss Cooks at all and still don't. We just need another guy to help out MT, so he isn't the only one getting balls thrown to him. Guys.... This is the best WR we've ever had in franchise history. Let's enjoy him and show him our love. In many ways, MT reminds me of Michael Irvin in his prime. The Cowboys were smart to help Irvin out by bringing in Jay Novacek (probably the most underrated player on those teams.) and they had Alvin Harper who was a reliable deep threat. I hope Jared Cook can be our Jay Novacek. |
