INSIDE DISH: The team won't stop trying to restructure the contracts of DE Simeon Rice and LB Derrick Brooks. Those two players combined are taking up nearly $20 million worth of cap space, so the team desperately needs to make their contracts more palatable. Releasing Rice or Brooks is not an option because the cap hit the team would take by letting either go makes it cheaper to keep them. At this point the Bucs can only hope that Rice and Brooks play up to their massive contracts. In the case of Brooks, that's not a concern. In Rice's case, however, the team needs to get more big plays in the run game and more consistency in pass-rush situations.
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/3702296 IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO HAVE BROOKS ON THE TEAM.....I KNOW IF HE WOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED.....THE SAINTS WOULD HAVE TRIED TO PICK HIM UP...... |
