Ratings for SB & the NFL in general have been a downward trend since bout XLVI. Part of that is online streaming and the NFL's failure to adapt but I've gone sideways. Shouldn't have just fired with 'ratings' as my stand alone argument but I was lazy & wanted brevity in the post. Figured most would get the general idea. Should have included popularity, merchandising, licensing, ticket/vendor sales, etc...unless you want me to keep listing?
Point is, as a business (which the NFL is certainly), it is more profitable for big market teams to be successful than us, Jax, Nashville, etc. If you're inclined to turning big piles of $ to bigger piles of $$$, more times than not you're skipping NO & TB for NYC & LA.
Oh yeah, and I sidetracked bout the 2nd & 7th Rd picks we lose for next year. My bad. We'll be fine.
