Time heals all wounds, a/k/a foosball’s not for the devil, after all.

In New Orleans, where football became a four-letter word after the NFC title game officiating debacle, fans have rediscovered the sport, apparently. According to the New Orleans Advocate, the 8.3 rating for the three-day draft made New Orleans the No. 2 market, behind only Nashville.

Given that the Saints didn’t have a first-round pick (they traded it to the Packers last year as part of the move up for pass rusher Marcus Davenport), the rating becomes even more impressive.

In 2015, New Orleans earned the title of the top local market in draft viewership. That was the first year the draft left New York City for a tour of other NFL locales. Maybe it’s time to put the draft in New Orleans, given that there’s a local passion for it — even if the guy who takes the podium for every pick made on the first night of the draft would hear the boos louder than in any city except Boston.

Anger regarding the bad call that contributing the Saints’ loss to the Rams resulted in a Super Bowl ratings nose dive in New Orleans, with the Super Bowl LII rating of 52.4 cut by more than half, to 26.1 for Super Bowl LIII.

Re: New Orleans loves football again

We might have the smallest viewership in total marketshare, but in my years traveling, and this was pre-Brees Saints, there was no more passionate fan base than when the Saints are home in the Dome...

Now KC Chiefs tailgating was pretty impressive for a ProSport; done the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party (Florida@Georgia), though LSU home games are better...

But, in my twenties, I'd have fraternity Brothers from other states come in for Saints games when I had season tickets, they'd argue right up to we show'd at the Dome that it wasn't as loud as Soldier Field, Veterans...

Every single time, once that Dome Patrol got going, every Brother admitted they'd not seen, or heard, anything like it once inside - some still tell people till this day, you gotta go to a Saints home game - impressive...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Stopped spending money on NFL mdse, ESPN, NFLN, et al (actually have a lifetime's worth of Saints mdse) until they cease using the game stage for their individual political beliefs...

On Sundays I sit with respected friends where some are liberal, some moderate, some conservative, and some are just plain apathetic, but we all want a break from the BS for 3-1/2 hours and just be happy...

Re: New Orleans loves football again

When my wife and I were still dating she was a Cowboys fan. Then one weekend in 2011 I took her to New Orleans and we went to the Saints-Texans game. After a Saturday night partying in the city and pre-game drinking in Champions Square, let’s just say we hadn’t even made it into the Superdome yet before she said “I think I’m a Saints fan now!”

It’s just different being a Saints fan. It truly is a lifestyle.
