Re: Updated Saints depth chart, key position battles after draft

If I'm these guys, I'm packing my lunch, coming in earlier, staying later...

RB Latavius Murray (FA 2019)
RB Dwayne Washington
OL Cameron Tom
OL Will Clapp
OL Nick Easton (FA 2019)
WR Cam Meredith
WR Austin Carr
TE Josh Hill
DE Trey Hendrickson
NT Taylor Stallworth
LB Craig Robertson
LB A.J. Klein
SS Chris Banjo
CB Justin Hardee
CB Ken Crawley

This was an expensive, talented draft and undrafted free agent class, so if these young guys impress early with little drop-off, the veteran contracts will make them expendable...

I'm not betting on Banjo, Gray, Robertson, Klein, Stallworth, Meredith, nor Carr; don't dislike them, in fact I've loved Robertson and Klein since they got here, just not betting on them...

However Payton prefers vets, and that'll be interesting factor in the Easton-Clapp-Tom battle; some think Clapp is odd man out - I don't because Clapp can play C, LG, RG, and RT where Tom is limited to C...

If only eight (8) OL are kept, that'll be the battle; however, in light of what happened with Armstead missing significant time, again, and Peat playing broken at the end - Payton may plan on an add'l OL this year...

Banjo and Hardee will make the squad based on their Special Teams play alone, they may not be world beaters on Defense, but they are a huge reason as to why we allowed the lowest punt return yards last season.

I can’t see Tom, clap, Easton , stallworth, Hendrickson or Murray being cut material. We are way too thin on both lines and I can’t see SP going into a super bowl year with a back up rb being an udfa

CB Ken Crawley ... he needs to live at the Saints facility.

Not sure he'll ever regain his confidence. Gave up too many big plays. His body language was bad post Eli Apple signing.
