Nwokorie?

You would think that with a name like Nworkorie, I think I would have at least heard of him. I like to think I know a bit about football. Maybe Nworkorie is some kind of code for Woodson.

Nwokorie?

Another project player, ala Ruff. He\'s only been in the league two years, and only started one of those (2001). Decent numbers for a rookie, but have never seen him play, so I\'m not sure why he didn\'t start last year.

Nwokorie?

I\'ve never heard of this guy, but the NFL and NFL Players Assoc. web sites have some interesting stats on this guy. Here\'s everything I could find.

He\'s apparently a four year pro out of Purdue, although they only have statistics on him for two years (unsigned?). They have him listed as a 6-3, 284 lb. DE. He\'s 27.

His stats for 2002 are non-existant. In 2001 he started 5 or 6 games (depending on who you believe) and registered 32 tackles, 9 assts., 5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 3 fumble recoveries, with, get this, 95 fumble return yards, and 1 touchdown. Those are some pretty decent stats assuming his playing time was limited outside of those six starts. According to KFFL he never played on grass in 2001 and only played in 2 of the 8 road games.

The Colts web site has different numbers. Here\'s what they have to say about him:

2001: Emerged as one of team’s top surprise stories of season at LDE…active athletic player who played in 16 games, starting five…started 10/25 at Kansas City, 12/10 at Miami, 12/16 vs. Atlanta, 12/23 vs. NYJ and 12/30 at St. Louis… had 71 tackles, 40 solo, 5.0 sacks (19.5 yards), 23 QB hits, one forced fumble, three batted passes, three fumble recoveries (one returned for a touchdown) and one fumble forced…was second on team in QB hits and third in sacks…clinched season-opening victory at NYJ 9/9 with 95t fourth-quarter fumble return, the longest in club history…also had four tackles and one QB hit at NYJ…totaled four tackles and two QB hits vs. Buffalo 9/23…totaled two tackles, one sack (13 yards), one fumble recovery and two QB hits vs. Oakland 10/14…made first career start with two tackles and season-high eight QB hits at Kansas City…totaled four tackles, one sack and five QB hits at Buffalo 11/4… had first career 10-tackle game at New Orleans 11/25, with 10 tackles, one sack (2 yards) and one QB hit…totaled two tackles, one sack, one batted pass and one QB hit vs. San Francisco 11/25…totaled one fumble recovered, one QB hit and one batted pass at Baltimore 12/2…totaled five tackles and 0.5 sack (9 yards) vs. Atlanta 12/16…had eight tackles, 0.5 sack (0 yards) and one forced fumble at St. Louis 12/30…had at least four tackles in nine games.

Maybe his game against NO is why they\'re interested??

He sounds like a good guy:

Full name is Chijioke Obinna Nwokorie…born in Tuskegee, Ala....attended Jefferson High School (West Lafayette)… played only two years of football…had 78 tackles, three sacks and interception (27t) as senior…also handled kickoff and punting duties…lettered in wrestling…spent nine years of childhood in Nigeria…visited Elder Watson Diggs elementary school as part of the NFL’s United Way Hometown Huddle in December 2000...works with NCAA “Stay Inbounds program helping youth learn value of classroom and listening to parents...through NCAA works in seven-state effort to create mentee-mentor relationships with eighth/ninth-grade basketball players to help prospects stay away from influences that could jeopardize collegiate attendance...has worked for two years as volunteer assistant football coach at Arlington and North Central High Schools in Indianapolis...donates tickets to home games to youth groups and is affiliated with the Wheeler Mission for the less fortunate....single…resides in Indianapolis, Ind.
