Cam Jordan hadn't officially signed the paper work when he addressed the media Tuesday afternoon after Saints minicamp.
But there was no way the Saints All-Pro defensive end wasn't about to. He had 52.5 million reasons to sign it. Or in Jordan's case, 52.5 million and one reasons. The one represents the city of New Orleans, the only place Jordan says he wants to ever play football. "I've always said it's not about being the highest paid player," Jordan said. "I've got personal goals. As embedded as I am to this community, as much as I love this place, as much as my family is at home here, uprooting isn't really an option for me." So for Jordan, whose contract extension was confirmed to The Advocate by a source Monday, he won't have to uproot anytime soon. He's with the Saints now through at least 2023. The extension is worth $52.5 million, $42 million of which is guaranteed, according to the report. It has a maximum value of $55.5 million. In a nutshell, the Saints took care of the guy who for the past eight years has taken care of the left side of the defensive line. Jordan has been to the defense what Drew Brees has been to the offense: a reliable, steady force and a locker room leader who puts up big numbers. "It's much deserved," Saints coach Sean Payton said. "He's someone who has been extremely productive." more on The Advocate |

Cam Is The Man!!! I'm so glad that he's a team first guy and wanted an extension rather than a new fat contract. He's quickly becoming a legend in New Orleans.
