Re: USA Today/Saints Wire: PFF calls Matt Ryan a 'team killer' against the Saints
He is a team killer, unfortunately for Atlanta, the team he usually kills is the Falcons. Like the game he slid short on a third and goal or when he ran away from a loose ball in a tight game or missed Julio standing all by himself in the end zone on 4th down in a 4 point game. He’s a good QB but he just doesn’t have the heart of a champion.

The only thing he "kills" on a consistent basis is his underwear.

So, Ryan put up big numbers against past Saints defenses that everyone put up big numbers against.....and he still lost the majority of the games.
Take a poll of both teams' fans and see if they want to trade QBs. That answer will tell you more that PFF's analysis. |

Re: USA Today/Saints Wire: PFF calls Matt Ryan a 'team killer' against the Saints
I'll give Ryan some credit, that he has given us some memorable games and even shown up with some of his best career games against us. I feel like we've truly had the height of the Saints/Falcons rivalry thanks to seeing Brees and Ryan have their shoot outs.
You often hear about great head to head QB duels. Manning vs Brady, Young vs Favre, Marino vs Kelly, etc etc.... I think Brees vs Ryan will be remembered in the future. I would like to run stats and see where they ran in combined passing stats in all their head to head games, vs other QB rivalries. |

As I said in my previous post, I am curious what Ryan and Brees' combined passer stats look like in comparison to other great QB rivalries of the past. I'd like to know if the numbers combine and look like the old Manning vs Brady games or Marino and Kelly. Saints/Falcons is truly one of the best divisional rivalries in NFL history that has not gotten a lot of spotlight. I have always believed it's because until the late 2000s and 2010s, both teams usually did not have success at the same time. 1991 was the lone year both were in the playoffs together until 2010. |
