Hakim impact report
The New Orleans Saints agreed to terms with free agent WR Az-Zahir Hakim (Lions) on a one-year deal. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
This appears to end what has been a wild week for Hakim, who appeared to be headed to the Kansas City Chiefs last week. After agreeing to the terms with the Chiefs, Hakim quietly departed Kansas City and speculation has come about that he was unhappy the team was saying he would not be guaranteed a roster spot. Instead of potentially being the Chiefs' No. 2 receiver, Hakim will likely be New Orleans' No. 3 receiver behind WRs Joe Horn and Donte' Stallworth. Hakim's arrival likely bumps WR Devery Henderson down to the No. 4 spot on the depth chart. Over the last three seasons, working as both a starter and a slot receiver with the Lions, Hakim has averaged 39 receptions, 508 yards and about three touchdowns per season. from kffl |
