I've traveled a lot of states and seem to always find Packers, Steelers and Cowboys fans abound. I even have found Broncos fans all the way in Alabama.

I'll give Pats fans a break (their real fans that is, not the recent bandwagon hoppers). Of all the teams fan bases I've hung out on forums and met in person, Pats fans are easily the most tolerable and most respectful towards me as a Saints fan. All you have to do is ignore the "Brady is the GOAT" and the Roger Goodell conspiracy theories (you'd think our fan base would go easy on them cause they hate Goodell like us), and they are actually fun to chat football with. Their old time fans can be cool as hell; they did suffer a humiliating SB loss in the 80's and another in the 90's. Their dynasty is still new in comparison to Pittsburgh and Dallas' history.
Agree. All around the country I get approached by people when wearing a Saint's logo. Other than ATL (and possibly MN) they all think highly of the organization. At last season's game here in Cinci, we ran into Saint's fans that had no affiliation with NO, LA, Brees etc. Some families drove over six hours. For some reason, they just loved the Saints.

I think Brees' too short, too injured as well as the Katrina recovery, small market story draws attention and has made the Saints "The" underdog of the NFL. People who tend to pull for the underdog are drawn to the Saints.

It's always cool meeting Saints fans outside of our region. My wife is from Illinois, grew up in Chicago. All my in-laws are Bears fans, including her (proof that love is truly blind! lol) I get along with them pretty well though and they were upset over our playoff loss more so than the Bears own loss. My wife don't really keep up with football much anymore due to all the traveling she does done around the country, but my sister and brother in law were bummed out when the Saints lost. To hear them say it, they're used to the Bears' disappointments, but they wanted to see the Saints go all the way after Chicago was eliminated. We were hoping for a Saints/Bears playoff game just to have a family get together. No trash talking, we're all older, chilled and respect each other.

Saints are the ultimate underdog and I think we kinda were before Katrina. We've always been seen as "lovable losers" in a sort of way. My in laws love Brees as a person and that's largely why they root for him, but on the other hand, I never ever hear anything bad about some of other past players. People always say nice things about the Dome Patrol players and Archie.

Speaking of Atlanta, the last few times I was up there, I seen a LOT of Saints gear. Northern Alabama is usually Falcons land or it's supposed to be, but I've also seen a lot of Saints stuff up there past Montgomery.
