Interestingly I have birth mark that looks like his scar but on my right knee! He didn't speak much of his war experience. I became interested in WWII while doing research on his outfit.
Those guys never got the press, but their ability to handle the pivot stopped, negated the German CounterAttack. That was one tough group of men...
