"Saints coach Sean Payton explained in May why the team pursued Granderson even with the legal issue.

“We felt real comfortable with everything we knew, and so far he’s done a good job here," Payton said after the second day of Saints rookie minicamp."

Lol well that's awkward....looks like the advice Payton got wasn't that trust worthy considering the guy has now been sent down.

Not a miss yet. We still own his rights. He appears to be extremely talented. What he did was wrong, but not approaching something like rape. Ever heard of being scared straight?

The front office had to have known that this was possible, but based upon their evaluation of his true character and talent they must have felt it was a cheap gamble ... which may still pay off.

I don't care what in the heck he is. This guy is a disgusting individual. Take off your black and gold glasses and imagine if this were your daughter. Read this below and tell me this is okay. Are you aware that he was set for trial for sexual assault in the third degree? That's 10 years in prison in Wyoming. Are you sure you really want a guy like this on our team?

“I feel like he’s not really getting a punishment,” one victim, D.H., said. “I just feel like there should be more that can be done to show that this is not OK.”

The other victim, identified as A.A., told the judge Thursday that the molestation by Granderson left her “empty, depressed and lost.”

The victims stem from an incident when A.A. and D.H. slept at Granderson’s apartment the night after the final UW football game of 2018.

Both said they were awoken to Granderson molesting them.

“I have never been so terrified in my life,” D.H. said through tears Thursday morning. “I sat there and looked for my keys because they had pepper spray on them, but they were nowhere to be found.”

The victims, both student-athletes at UW, expressed frustration at how the university handled the allegations against Granderson.

A.A. said she felt “rejected by the administration of the university” and said university leaders initially treated Granderson “like he was the victim.”

“I was constantly getting bullied by members of the football team, all of whom thought it was OK to call me a ‘ho’ and ‘slut’ to my face,” she said.

And how about one of the disgusting Coaches for Wyoming who wrote this letter: Before sentencing, Granderson’s attorney, Megan Overmann Goetz, read a statement from one of Granderson’s coaches, who expressed support for Granderson and said he was “the type of young man that a coach dreams of being able to work with.”

I'm quite sure if I went to this coach's house and sexually assaulted his daughter or wife, he'd say something quite different.

Let me add: this is no different than the rapist Jameis Winston getting into the NFL after he raped the women in college.

All the idiot Florida State fans called the women whores, etc. Blaming them for even though he raped them.

We make too many excuses for people's behavior, especially football stars.

I'd say most people would say if he did this to their daughter, they'd want to kill him. I know I would.

Not a big fan of classless, disrespectful trash on the team.

You completely lost me with this post.

I hope they take his "rights" and shred them. Let the Cowboys take him.

Why not try and sign Darren Sharper whilst we are at it?

His true character is a criminal, no more needs to be said.

Sharper will forever be the one taint on our 2009 season. He gave us such joy that year, but it leaves a horrible taste in your mouth when looking at his crimes.

Absolutely, I literally worshipped that guy as a hero. He was one of the main reasons I played Free Safety for my UK based football team, hearing that news and what he did was sickening.

He would've eventually got into the Hall of Fame with his stats too. Sharper had some great seasons in Green Bay long before he joined us.

I'm glad I never bought his jersey. I spent a lot of time in 2010 trying to find a Sharper jersey but didn't want to pay a hefty price for it. Would've never got over it had I actually spent the money.

I hear ya' jp. He's taking different chances than he has in the past. However, we know that he's a gambler and he did have a plea deal in place.....

The Laramie Boomerang reported Friday that Carl Granderson's attorney told a judge that Granderson wants to withdraw his plea. He has also asked to have his six-month jail sentence overturned.

The grounds for Granderson's challenge have not been made public. Some court documents in the case were filed under seal, and defense attorney Megan Overman Goetz told the newspaper she couldn't comment.

Very realistic option.

Saints coaches were really, really high on him coming out of college. If they feel comfortable with bringing him back, I'd be just as happy.

The talent is there.

Here is why I always hesitate to judge people unless I have all the facts.

When I was In high school my girlfriend was two months younger than me. One day she’s passing notes to a friend in class sharing some dirty details and the teacher catches her. Turns out her teacher is good friends with her dad so she turns it over to him. Of course dad flips out and forbids us to see each other. We keep dating anyway and on my birthday he calls MY dad and says he’s going to have me arrested for statutory rape. It really scared the hell out of us and I was about to lawyer up but the guy must have realized the can of worms he was going to open up and forgot about the whole thing.
This was a mutual, long term, healthy relationship between consenting teens with an age difference of just 2 months.
It could have ruined my life if this guy would have gone ahead and filed charges just because he didn’t like his daughter dating.

I know nothing about this guys story but if he’s allowed back on the team and repays his debt I’m fine with it. If it happens again not so much.

Based on your circumstances, you wouldn't have been prosecuted. The case would've been dropped and probably never even crossed the prosecutor's desk.

Sorry I have less faith in people that have a criminal past. Especially in the NFL. Not saying people can't change or get wrongly accused, but the NFL tends to exacerbate negative behavior.

I'd put my money on letting him walk rather than the media mess that comes with him if he stays.

The New Orleans Saints on Saturday established their initial 53-player roster for the 2019 regular season and one move caught attention.

Rookie defensive end Carl Granderson, who was released from jail by a Wyoming district judge on Aug. 26, was reinstated with an Exempt/Commissioner Permission designation. He will not count against the Saints' active roster.

The move allows a two-week window for the Saints to decide what to do with Granderson, who was originally set to serve a six-month jail sentence for alleged sexual assault. The sentence prompted the Saints to place Granderson on the Reserve/Did Not Report list before the start of training camp.
