Latavius Murry

I thought I was ok with him but the more I look at it not feeling it. For one, he's much taller than Ingram, not really a bowling ball kind of RB. His catch ability might be fine but nothing like Ingram. Ingram was also an exceptional blocker. I have not seen that in Latavius.

I don't think he will be nearly as successful as Ingram. Totally different skill set and not a firm handle on the playbook yet.

He is likely effective around the GL and short yardage. Outside of that no. He does not do what we need him to do from what I have seen.

This is where offensive adjustments will come into play.

I'm expecting our offense to most likely be tweaked a good bit from last year's.

Kind of hard to "shine" when guys (Vikes O line ranked #25th) up front were not getting it done.

Sean Payton is the most innovative, creative coach out there. Latavius will be just fine in New Orleans.

Edit ** The Vikes O line actually ranked 29th after 17 weeks of football in 2018.

The Saints needed a backup and they went out and got the best they could. I personally think if Ozigbo gets a legit shot, he could exit camp as the #2 RB.

The dynamics of the offense is naturally going to be different than what we saw in 2018. The young WR's will have another year under their belt. We will have a true threat at TE. Why would we want Murray to simply be a Mark Ingram 2.0? As K Major pointed out, Murray was playing behind a bad offensive line and wasn't even being used that much until Dalvin Cook went down 2/3rds of the way through the season.

I doubt any of us has seen what Murray is actually capable of doing. But, I'm sure Payton has a good idea how he can be used.

What I found interesting is that Murray and Ingram's stats were eerily similar (y/a, yards & rush attempts) in terms of production for 2018.

Re: Latavius Murry

I've seen most of his games last few years. Raiders had some success smashing at the GL. Not much of a pass catcher though or shifty but he does have some open field speed.

What I hope doesn't happen is he is used 90% of the time for dive runs but that is probably what will happen. If he was a strong receiver he would have been used that way. Just not something he does.

He "took the game over" couple of times with the Vikes running and catching the ball.

I'm not too worried about him, and if Kamara goes down, there are few RBs in the league anyway that could fill that void.

I could see him having success with Taysom in there. A mini Ravens package.

Murray has almost the same catch % as Ingram, with close to the same yards/target and yards/reception.

It'll probably take Murray a little time to get comfortable in the offense but by the middle of the season I really don't expect to see much of a difference in production between the two.
