1. Welcome back!! After missing the previous four practices it was good to see running back Latavius Murray and safety Marcus Williams participating fully in the pads. Both had appeared in the indoor portion of the last three practices but then worked on conditioning when the team moved outside. Murray made his presence known immediately on the first play of team drill as he broke a long run much to the delight of the sellout crowd at the Ochsner Sports Performance Center.

2. One-on-one: Perhaps the best part of the daily grind of training camp is when the offensive linemen square off against their counterparts on the defensive side. These individual battles are the basis of the game of football, where games are won and lost in the trenches. Free agent pickup defensive tackle Malcom Brown continues to dominate this drill at times with a variety of moves and just sheer power. Always fun to watch the battle between left tackle Terron Armstead and defensive end Marcus Davenport. Armstead continues to impress during this camp.

3. Offensive day: For really the first time this training camp, the offense looked like its old self. Long runs by Murray and Alvin Kamara, throws down the seam from Drew Brees to Michael Thomas highlighted the workout, but the best play of all might have been Cyril Grayson Jr.’s catch of a deep out from quarterback Taysom Hill. Not only did Grayson stay inbounds but he held on to the ball after hard contact. Fittingly, that was the last play of the period.

They probably just let Murray have a free run just to temper the fans fears about the RB position.

Didn't like letting Ingram go and bringing Murray in, but on that one I'm gonna wait and see before criticizing...

That aside, very encouraged to hear about Grayson big play threat; my hope is that he secures that WR4/5 slot and the KR/PR role as well; that'll give us other roster options when Ginn's contract expires...

Also, glad to learn we may have hit in free agency with Malcom Brown, who'll draw lots of attention from opponents to give Onyemata, Jordan and Davenport more one-on-one opportunities to make plays...

It isn't training camp without The Dude having someone to be totally negative concerning.

I have a feeling that Brown can do a lot for us.

Let's hope with Grayson, even if he was an LSU guy.
