I expected it to be 6 weeks anyway. This is good news.
So what happens if Mario Edwards has an outstanding game in Onyematas absence? Stay with the hot hand?

Don't rush this young man back before he's 100 %. Not to mention he's a 300 lb lineman recovering from probably one if not the worst injury you can have in football.

Rankins shouldn't feel the need to return until he is completely healthy.

This (^^^) is the reason for the pessimism about him playing this season, or at his previous level...

Public confidence in Saints medical advisors is waivering already and this situation is fraught with potential problems...

We have a terrific, if not better, DT3 in Onyemata and just don't see the need to rush Rankins back or commit big money for that matter...

Doesn't matter, you want depth, heavy rotation to keep the horses fresh throughout the regular season and to go deep in the post-season...

Do not rush him back too soon! Give the big man time to heal. If he comes back too soon he may never be the same. I feel comfortable with Brown until Rankins comes back. Comfortable not happy.....
