this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; ...if he thinks that Trufant will be there for the 16th pick. Hell, he won't make it past the 10th, much less the 16th. :P...

I have a feeling Trufant may slide a bit by draft day, similar to Phil Buchanon last year. Everyone had Buchanon going much higher than 18, and many felt there would be no way he would get past the Saints who picked 13th last year. Out of curiosity, who do you see Trufant going to and why?

Dallas will push the race to fill secondary players, by picking Newman with the 5th pick. Mario Edwards has not proven to be that second CB, third, definately, but not second, and we all know that Parcells is a defense minded coach. They don\'t need a wide reciever, Parcells won\'t use a high draft pick on someone who is going to fill the caretaker position that is the QB in his system, and the only other needs that the Cowboys have cannot be addressed at that pick. The only thing that would change this is if Suggs fell to 5th (but I don\'t think he will with Detroit and Chicago holding the #2 and #4 respectively).
That leaves Arizona, Minnesota, and Jacksonville who could all use a potential shutdown corner on thier roster. I like your pick for Arizona (Leftwich) that would help bolster the team moreso than Trufant, but that still leaves Minnesota with the 7th pick, and they will take Trufant. From what I\'ve seen of Newman and Trufant, you strip away Newman\'s incredible kickoff and punt return abilities and you have Trufant. If, for some strange reason, Trufant does slide past MN and JX, I will be the one smoking coffee grounds, as he will slide all the way to the 16th pick, barring someone trades up to grab him, but I just can\'t see that happening, unless Suggs does in fact drop to Dallas. |
The waiting drove me mad....
I don't want to hear from those that know... Everything has changed, absolutely nothing's changed Eddie is a....draftnik? |
