I had to fill in for somebody at work so I missed the game. Anybody really stand out for better or worse?

Re: Saints vs. Chargers Game Day Thread

The called back penalty sucked, but was so happy for Colton Jumper...

He's a damn good linebacker and would've easily made this roster during the 7-9 years...

If he could just get the reps in, he'd be a quality LBer for us...

Should Anzalone's shoulder be more serious, we may just need to keep him...

That sucked...anyways...

Trending Up - Taysom Hill

Trending Down - Teddy Bridgewater

Classic KMajor commentary today (good stuff)...

I'd trade Bridgewater... Taysom is the future.

Couldn’t disagree more... I vividly remember this guy from last years pre season hoping he was a quick cut. Maybe he improved a bit this year, but there was more than one game last year that had me concerned about our LB depth.

Teddy went backwards after a solid showing vs the Vikes :(.

Taysom Hill played like Taysom Hill. Really impressive running and throwing.

Deonte' Harris is a serious punt returner. He tracks the ball well, soft hands and has another gear to take it to the house. Hard to tackle in space.

Those two really stood out for me.

jeanpierre 08-18-2019 06:19 PM

Re: Saints vs. Chargers Game Day Thread

You know, it's the little things that make the big differences - At one point Taysom completed like nine complete passes in this coming-out party...

But the real difference was something Sean preached last week and Taysom was listening - Getting the play called and out of the huddle with rhythm, steady rhythm...

Rhythm is contagious, Rhythm is gonna getcha...

Re: Saints vs. Chargers Game Day Thread

Teddy has too much slack and I’m not sure what he has done to earn that. He was ok for the Vikings years ago, but as a saint there isn’t a single game that tells me he is ready to be the guy.

Obviously coaches see more than any of us, but I am off the teddy bandwagon for good. The guy needs to show up.

hitta 08-18-2019 06:34 PM

Re: Saints vs. Chargers Game Day Thread

It's just been kinda assumed that Teddy would mold into a good NFL QB, but quite frankly I've never really seen any real signals to show this.

He had a decent season in 2015... but really that was a stacked Vikings team.

Payton in post-game news conference is telling us Teddy Bridgewater was sick today and should've pulled him out after the first series...

Wrong.
No excuses and owning it would be not mentioning it at all.

Sad to see the coaching staff making excuses for a players poor performance. Was he also sick for the only game he started as a saint? He didn’t finish that game either, Hill came in and put up the only offense there was (weeks 17 last year).

Who says he should be cut?

Not so good news tweet by Katherine Terrell ...

Deuce said on the radio that Craig Robertson told athletic trainers he "felt like he heard something pop" and that it didn't sound good

I'd call Manti Teo back ...

Saints are kind of thin with Anzalone and possibly Craig out for an extended period of time.

We only play three-set LBers maybe 25% of the time now...

What’s wrong with Anzalone? Seems like he’s always injured. I like him.

Re: Saints vs. Chargers Game Day Thread

Kaden Elliss had a good game. Good speed and seems to be in the right place.

Hendrickson is showing enough that I think he'll stick around and will be active this year. On Kleins INT he creats good pressure. Davenport just puts his tackle on his ass with a great rush.

Great breakup by Smith on a very poorly thrown ball by Bridgewater. Bridgewater looked real shaky and it seems like he has lacked pocket awareness the last two games.

Hill is an impressive athlete that is getting better as a QB. He still has a ways to go but posesses fantastic tools to fix a play that is going south.

Forgot to say, I think the DTs as a group had a good day. No big plays up the middle and decent pressure.

As for Teo, there will be a million cuts in a couple of weeks.

I mentioned Manti because he's already familiar with Nolan's system, has chemistry with our backers and is lights out against the run.

Ellis is doing nice things but he's still a rookie. Depending on the severity of Craig's injury, I could see us bringing in another veteran LB at some point. Possibly after that final wave of cuts (teams must reduce to 53) on 8/31/2019.

K Major 08-19-2019 07:43 AM

Re: Saints vs. Chargers Game Day Thread

I hope coach gives Kaden Elliss a whole lot of playing time in pre season #3.

An opportunity (Anzalone/Craig out) is there to showcase his worth.

st thomas 08-19-2019 08:09 AM

Re: Saints vs. Chargers Game Day Thread

Teddy does not need to be cut. He needs to get it right. He looked better against the vikes . But still not setting his feet . It will be corrected . He’s 2 different QBs when he’s fidgety back there or planting. If the guys sick why risk putting your whole team in quarantine for a week. If he had the runs wells that’s no excuse for looking terrible.
