I don't think folks have really been tracking the Saints QB room. Getting rid of TB means that Hill would no longer have any extra function other than holding a clipboard. No more special teams. No more go go gadget. The backup QB has to be wrapped in bubble wrap in case of emergency. So while it's arguable whether or not TB or Hill would get the start if Brees were unavailable, without TB around, all of the extras we've seen with Hill would instantly come to an end. Trade TB to the Panthers? No fricken way! SFIAH |

I guess what they are really saying is that Scam Newton sucks... Didn't we already know this?

Re: Teddy Bridgewater is perfect fit for Panthers
We're painted into a corner on this one...
First, you're going to trade Bridgewater within the division to reunite with ole' Norv Turner, his OC in Minny and remove the liability that is Sham Newton? Second, you're going to likely alter using Taysom and you bench the backup QB, who's also the best gunner, punt blocker, kick returner, and offensive jump starter? Third, you're going to get what in return, maybe a third round pick? Our most pressing need is likely left guard right now and Norwell left for JAX, last season... Fourth, you're going to send our second string quarterback, who's been with us during the install of our offense, within the division to start the season? Context: This is Florio and Simms; these are not rocket scientists; they're as qualified as anyone here to be GM of an NFL team; saavy? |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Re: Teddy Bridgewater is perfect fit for Panthers
Only way we trade Teddy is if Brees goes down for the count (God Forbid) and we're out of it for a title...
Yeah, then I'd move Bridgewater and start building draft capital for 2021 draft to select Clemson QB Trevor The Truth Lawrence... And if Taysom is the second coming of Steve Young and is in fact better than Bridgewater now, Taysom would take over for an injured Brees... Then we're likely still headed for Lombardi Gras and you'll need Bridgewater as backup to do it anyways... |

Re: Teddy Bridgewater is perfect fit for Panthers
The other day I said that we should trade Teddy, but I've changed my mind. Taysom is still the QB of the future, but Taysom kind of plays a high risk role for us in our current offense and if he got hurt we wouldn't have a backup. We should hold on to Teddy I think, at least for the time being.

Re: Teddy Bridgewater is perfect fit for Panthers
I agree that we don't trade Teddy, but Taysom is not our QB of the future. He's 29 today, and while he IS a tremendous weapon, he IS not an NFL quarterback

Taysom, Teddy, Trevor "The Truth", player X from Muddwater St ... whatever.
All kinds of scenarios could play out. College talents emerge, current Qbs become available. Or we go through a QB wilderness for a while as the Denver have. Brees set the bar excessively HIGH and anyone who follows him is going to be judged harshly. Enjoy the ride. |

You can either be like the Patriots and just find a Tom Brady out of no where.. or you can be like the Packers and draft Aaron Rodgers and sit him on the bench for several years before he plays. Both works. ![]()
I really really like Taysom Hill though. I think he has an incredibly high/ all time great type ceiling. I don't see that kind of ceiling for Teddy. Taysom Hill's floor is starting to rise as well. He has such an amazing tool kit that if he's able to harness just half of what he is capable of, he'd be a decent NFL QB. |
