Is the return game so important that the Saints will have a guy on the roster that as of now does nothing else? In his favor, the Saints have no one else on the roster who returns. Kamara is too valuable and Ginn is too old.

Having Deonte' back there with the ability to give Brees a short field (to convert a winning Lutz FG) or even potentially taking it to the house & breaking the opponents back. Huuuuggge. Games can be won and lost on special teams too.
I can't recall the last time the Saints had a punt returned for a TD ... it's been years. Marcus Murphy maybe ? IDK ... |

Just consistently fielding the punts instead of letting it bounce on the 19 yard line and getting downed at the 4 would be huge. The chance of getting a good drive increases significantly.
