RE: Supplemental Draft
I've read many articles about us being interested in Crosby but we already have tons of receivers on our depth chart. We really don't need another project. He has nice size, speed, etc. but so does our other receivers. He's looks in part very similiar to Gardner... we don't need another one. We just need for one of the guys here to step up next to Horn and Stallworth.
As for Wright, we have lots of players here that fit the bill physically. I'd wait and not take anyone until next year as it will be another deep draft. His 6'6 330 frames looks very Marcus Stroud-like, which is hella tempting, but I don't think he's going to be worth one of our high rounders. |

Although I doubt the front office was really going to try and get him, we don't have any info that they actually weren't going to get him in the 5th round. I don't really know about the format of the sup. draft, but I would guess that the picking order is similar to the previous draft. If that's the case then it looks like Miami scooped us and we didn't get a chance to draft him in the 5th.
Anyone have any info on the sup. draft procedure? |

maybe none of you realize this but wright has the same kind of concerns that sullivan has. Ed Orgeron formerly of USC and now Ole Miss spoke candidly about this guy saying he was consisitently overweight and lacked a strong motor. now you want to give up a pick on him? he hardly played last season beheind cody and patterson, but he merits anything more than a street free agent contract? you guys must be out of your usually very competent minds. we cant get the lyman pick back. im sorry about that too. however there is no reason to go wasting another pick on someone whos not going to contribute for another two to four more years, as i believe the best case learning curve is for a junior or senior DT.
tell me if any of these qoutes remind you of one johnathan S. or Ricky W.: "A team is really rolling the dice. "He's always been an enigma." "Manny is really a mystery," "Wright's weight could fluctuate between 290 and 320 pounds" "Sometimes, his attitude is very, very immature. " http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/column...ohn&id=2106749 and to answer another question, the sup draft is set up by lottery; all teams with less than 6 wins are put into a hat and that order is drawn. then the remaning non-playoff teams are put into a hat and the next order is drawn. then the playoff teams are put into a hat and drawn. so its similar to the april lottery as it is done by record, just more general, so there is a good chance Miami beat us to him, although as i stated thats for the best. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/8640758 |
I don't know if we really want get into a discussion on potential we have drafted higher. You make a fine point butts, and in principal I agree, but out DTs suck. That's the bottom line. We need to be lining up guys from New Orleans to Tuscaloosa and bringing them into camp to try and fill this position. It's a low cost high risk pick, granted. But do I really need to mention the picks we have wasted or the players we have passed on? This guy plays at a positon we need. If he works out, great. If he doesn't, what did it cost us, a 4th rounder? If that's the case, give me back my third rounders we spent on James Allen, Cie Grant, and Sed Hodge. gimme back the second rounders we spent on Devery and Stinch. Give me back the two firsts we spent on Sully definitely. We have drafted players who will sit at positions we didn't truly need for years, a 4th rounder for this guy would have been no big loss. Didn't we take a huge gamble on A-Mac? HE has as many questions about him as anyone, but the hope is he will develop here. Also, I was told John Pease was a master motivator on the d-line, isn't he supposed to be the guy that will egt Sully where we want him to be? He couldn't develop Wright?
