Well that game was a ****-show. Seemed sloppy and sluggish. Some quick thoughts:
#83 Cyril Grayson won't make the team. If you are back as a returner you atleast need to field the ball so the team don't lose yards on the bounce. He has good speed so maybe PS. #22 CJ gardner-Johnson looked bad in coverage but it seems like he really enjoys comin' up to put the hit on a guy. #20 Ken Crawley, its time to end this project. He seems lost a lot of the time, I could take that from a rookie with potentinal but not from a player with 4 years in the leauge. #17 Emanuel Butler is the real deal. I can see why the coaches like him. One drop is nothing I'll get my undergarments all in a bunch about because they happen. #15 Simmie Cobbs will be gone just because of numbers. #84 Lil'Jordan Humphrey probably a PS candidate, good size and decent speed but looks raw. He has a stupid name, just needed to get that said. #86 Alizé Mack needs to be snuck onto the PS. Great physical potential, maybe the best in the TE room, but clearly not NFL ready yet. #32 Devine Ozigbo needs to make the opening day roster or he will be gone in a flash. Catches the ball, runs well and fights for the tough yards. He is the type of bruiser I love to watch at the RB position. #37 Jacquizz Rodgers would probably clear waivers if he was cut, which i think is likely. Could be brought back later thanks to his experience. No direct thought on individual O-line players. The O-line play didn't look to shabby as a whole. #74 Shy Tuttle Could probably end up as a 4-5th DT on some other team but will probably not crack our roster. I would love him on the PS because he shows flashes of potential. No real flashes from the rest of the D-line. We were sorely lacking pressure on the QB. Shows how thin the depth is at the DE position especially. Best drive of the game was the third in the first half. TB spread the ball well and we just moved down the field. |

2 kicks on the ground last night. That won't cut it at this level. Grayson needs work. |

I thought Taysom threw the ball extremely well last night. With the exception of one incompletion (good coverage on 4th down), those drops hit Cobbs & Mack in the chest.
FWIW, I can respect the fact that he wasn't looking to take off and run as well. Stand tall in the pocket and sling it. Progression. |

He can throw... I think his accuracy is improving. I would have like to see him with the 2's last night. But it is what it is... going with him as the 3rd for the season is good because he fills so many other roles for us.

Interesting to see if Hill is used in as many different positions as last year.

As stated by someone else he needs work on accuracy and consistency and I can think of no one better to work with him than Drew. Drew always talks like after football he is going to stay in the Big Easy, that would bode very well for Hill and the Saints if they can get Hill to that replacement level of play. I am sure the days are very few and far between where Drew's hands haven't touched a football in the last 22 years and I suspect that habit will not die easy. I predict if all plays out like the above Drew will continue to mentor Hill after he is retired. Hill is also the type of guy Sean Payton might stay around a few more years for as well. |
