Barry Hirstius: Saints Versatility (and LB Coach Mike Nolan) is Reason Why Saints Traded for Linebacker Kiko Alonso

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; He could really work out for us. The one concern I have is his reputation and track record of absolute dirty hits and head-hunting. We have a physical defense that don't have to rely on dirty hits, so hopefully he ...

He had a hit on Flacco that drew a flag, but not a suspension, and a late hit on a sliding Andrew Luck. Big deal. Sounds to me like an aggressive player, not some sort of head-hunter.

Go on Youtube and search 'Kiko Alonso dirty hits'

He has a reputation for head hunting and we are the fan base of Bountygate. All it will take is one fine and/or suspension, and everyone will be screaming ridiculous Goodell conspiracies.

If he can avoid doing stupid stuff like this though, he might be a great pickup. I would've been over the mood for this trade a few years ago.

Looks like he was trying to avoid the hit to me. He dove over the sliding player making no contact until the back of his leg hit the player. And there were no "bounties" and anyone that matters in the game knows that. And any reference to "head-hunting" by Alonzo is solely in response by a bunch of whinny-assed Ravens fans over the Flacco hit on social media.

Oh, and search for "great hits" on youtube by any hard-hitting LB and you'll see the exactly same plays.
