Minkah Fitzpatrick
He’s been given permission to seek a trade. The Dolphins want a 1st rounder involved. I think our front office could steal him for a 2nd rounder. What do y’all think?

Dolphins are in straight up rebuilding mode and need all the high draft picks they can get. They don't want some marginal player and a 3rd rounder. |
Re: Minkah Fitzpatrick
Fitzpatrick was very good last year. Super talented and young.
I wonder what Miami will eventually take or "settle" for him in a trade ? Saints secondary needs all the help it can get. |

Questioning how the coach is utilizing you can never end in anything good.

Nor do we have a seventh round pick because of the Eli Apple trade... Saints front office currently has a first, third, fourth, fifth and sixth round pick... Personally, I'd draft a few offensive linemen, and a young, affordable cornerback... Don't forget the bill - Minkah's not cheap at his rookie wage salary slot (Overall Pick No. 11)... And you still have Bell, Onyemata, Rankins, Lattimore, Ramczyk, Marcus Williams to re-sign... |

Patriots will trade Sony Michel and 4 conditional SB tickets.

Re: Minkah Fitzpatrick
We just drafted a Minkah Fitzpatrick in Gardner-Johnson.

I mean I get it on paying people. But then again I just don’t. We were stumped for years because of Drew’s contracts. Now he’s under payed if u ask me. There giving gaszillions to rbs , WRs and D line players. Matty ice , whooleeoo . I want to see Cleveland do magic with there 53 first rd picks . A good CPA in the house to finagle some numbers and whaala. Back load this front load that one . Drag it out for years it . It used to be u cannot mortgage the future with paying that much. Well kiss my asre . |

One more whiff and he’s going to be ridiculed forever, dam he had the chance to take some ribs out on deshaun Watson at the goal line . He’s going to land on injured reserve if he don’t pick that damn head up to see what he’s doing. |

Coaches and players are never trying to tank. They want to win as badly as the fans do. This is on management who is pulling an elaborate tank job right before everyone's eyes. Tanking happens when management intentionally strips the team of talent, trading away all your good players and then making no attempts to sign any decent players at all. Flores will probably be fired after this is over or next year, but he didn't sign up for this. |

As Chris stated, Gardner plays the slot, and he's been playing some strong safety as well; and as Major said, he can play Free Safety... Minkah is a great player and I'd loved to have acquired him in the offseason, even before the draft, but the costs of a first round pick, and a fourth? And then having to get this unit to gel in-season, learning to hand-off coverage to one another, that just seems like a lot to do - in-season... It's like when one of these chefs is trying to salvage a f*ck-up and restarts an entree on Gordon Ramsey MasterChefs - they end up in catastrophic failure and look like an idiot sandwich... https://media.giphy.com/media/3o85xn...Yx4Q/giphy.gif |
Re: Minkah Fitzpatrick
Wait and see if there's an injury before the trade deadline. Then, I would have no misgivings about parting with the first rounder for the need. Otherwise. roll with what you've got.

Re: Minkah Fitzpatrick
We can't afford him but if we could he help a lot defending those critical passing downs.

Re: Minkah Fitzpatrick
That’s a problem with today’s NFL. These rookie players all feel like they are entitled to playing for a contender. Nobody wants to sit on a team for 2-3 years while a team rebuilds. I don’t like the thought of what it would be like if players start deciding when and where they are going to play.
If players had this same attitude in 06 we wouldn’t be where we are. Millennials suck and are *****s |

Imagine if 2007 and 2008 rolled around where we dont meet expectations and players like Colston, Bush, Jahri Evan's started requesting trades. I'd say pass, the fact that Fitzpatrick has requested a trade so early means he will give up at the first sign of adversity. That's what it looks like to me anyway. |

As irrational as it is, the hurt is real when your team is spurned, your values disrespected by a player(s). Yes, they're people too, often young, self-absorbed, enabled, and flawed... But you don't get a complete pass as an athlete when you're willing to take the money and the spotlight for fame, they too have to make sacrifices to their loyal customer base... How many here wouldn't change a spare tire and offer a meal inside their home for one of our Saints here? Hell, look at how many folks go out to MSY and welcome the team back - after a big loss!!! Well, if you want the public adoration, fame, as well as the coin those people give to make those contracts possible - players too need to to sacrifice, respect those good folks who support their NFL Life... |
Re: Minkah Fitzpatrick
Back on subject, if Miami were to accept a third and a player, for example Vonn Bell on a sign and trade, then working Over The Cap's figures, we could take on Minkah's first round contract...
Play Minkah how Bell's used, let Gardner push P.J. for the nickel, let Marcus play out his rookie deal at FS until, maybe Saquan could take over; extend Lattimore in another year - secondary would be pretty solid... All you'd need is an outside corner at Apple's spot should he find a better deal elsewhere, use your No. 1 pick there... |

As I said in a previous post; players and coaches never want to tank. It's on management that intentionally does this. Not every player is going to be Larry Fitzgerald and stay loyal to a team that is ran into the ground from awful management. |
Re: Minkah Fitzpatrick

People threw a fit cause they treat players like they owe a team something. He didn't owe Cleveland anything. Those fans burning his jerseys should've been angry at the management who did everything to squander those years as he was reaching his prime. It's fair to blame him for a lot of the problems with Cleveland after he came back cause he was running the show, but those early Cavs rosters were not constructed with his output and pals involved. Not everyone wants to be Larry Fitzgerald and stay loyal to a team with horrible management. Fitz could've joined us, Denver, or New England and caught passes from a Hall of Famer and possibly won a ring. I don't feel sorry for guys like that who stick around and waste their careers on crappy teams just to stay loyal to a team they make all the sacrifices for. John Elway was smart to avoid going to Indy after they drafted him... |
Re: Minkah Fitzpatrick
Until we know the severity of Drew Brees's injury, this situation reinforces my belief that teams should never go all-in as you can lose your best player in one play that your championship hopes are tethered...
That said, wasn't crazy about trading for Minkah, but after yesterday, Bell shouldn't be in our long-term plans... I'd package Bell with a third and offer it to Miami, especially since Dallas has pulled out of the sweepstakes and the market may be drying up... Cooper Kupp, who, full disclosure, I admittedly wanted more than Marcus Williams or Alvin Kamara, absolutely was the kill-shot for secondary... Minkah's skill set would have been a much better matchup there than Bell or P J Williams... Don't overreact, misinterpret - Not saying blow everything up after a terrible loss, but we've got tools in the tool box for a great secondary... Lattimore got caught trying to do much but will be fine. Gardner would be great complement with Minkah in SS/NB duties. Marcus improves, or Saquon gets an opportunity... |

Yep, and look, some players love the game and aren't down with playing for a team seeking to rebuild... Minkah went to 'Bama, where they've got their sh*t in order. If he's gonna play, he wants teams to have their act together... Dan Fouts during the Patriots @ Dolphins game pointed out on a screen shot of Dan Marino and his 58th birthday yesterday mentioned Miami has had twenty (20) quarterbacks since Marino retired in 2000... That's one new starting quarterback per season! |
Re: Minkah Fitzpatrick
You could play 4 or 5 safety sets and I’d venture to guess they still wouldn’t show up on the play
