Re: Walker: Drew Brees' injury and another blown call ... misery for Saints, fans in loss to Rams
Although Birdgewater was accurate at times, he also appeared lifeless and the offense played some pretty uninspired football when he was in. I also blame the coaching staff.
So for now, would love to see Taysom. But really was ticked off to see how defeated the team looked at merely 6-3. I guess they knew the fix was in. |

Speaking of the coaches ...
Why not double A Donald? Why not pound the rock with L Murray in short yardage situations? I thought Coach Dan Rizzi was supposed to be a special teams assassin? They stunk it up today and had no discipline on their gap assignments. The coaches were just as bad today. |

Shouldn’t be a question that Hill is the guy. He is better at every aspect of the game plus he gives the team some energy... but Teddy will start because Payton is invested in him.
We may not see Drew again... what a blow, literally the worst case scenario. |

This same thing happened vs Philly in the divisional round; if we lose, we would've been questioning the play calling leading up to that missed field goal and how we just couldn't stop shooting ourselves in the foot with dumb offensive penalties. On paper, we thoroughly dominated Philly in stats but couldn't put that game away. 100% correct about lack of discipline. They looked lacking last week with all the offensive penalties. Donald was whipping the o-line around even before Brees was out. For the whole game, it felt like Wade Phillips had us completely figured out from the beginning and knew how to stop whatever we were going to do. Even when Brees was in, the offense didn't look that good. Payton more or less, played right into his trap, not unlike how we've done before. Allen had a complete blueprint on how to confuse and disrupt Jared Goff based on how the Pats dismantled him in the SB - you line up, then completely shift positions after the QB headset cuts off at the line of scrimmage. Goff looked like a deer in headlights when the Bears and Pats did this to him. He can't read defenses well and we clearly didn't take advantage of this whatsoever. I hope we can figure it out, cause the battle for the NFC South is not going to be as easy as we were thinking last week after seeing how bad Atlanta, Carolina and Tampa looked. One of them will figure it out and start winning games, most likely Atlanta. |

Man, we just fell completely apart! I'm still just shaking my head. The young defense kept us in the game until they got tired but the offense was sluggish to start and eventually rubbed off on the whole team. Maybe we should play our starters a little more in the preseason. Our timing is off.
