TB couldn’t find his first read! They stopped playing the pass and stacked the box! This is AB 2.0. I’m not ready for another 6-10 or 7-9 experiment.

If He can get us a couple of wins while Brees is out that’s fine by me. Seeing Brees successor isn’t priority, winning as many games as we can while Brees is out IS priority. If TB can’t do it hopefully Payton can get creative enough with Hill to smoke and mirror our way into a W or two.
I’m behind TB for now. After a week with the ones and some plays developed to his skill set we SHOULD see a much better showing.

I agree with Budsdrinker though. If he’s still struggling during the first half of the Dallas game I think you see Hill start the second half.

Re: Teddy Bridgewater or Taysom Hill?

I like Teddy, I'm a fan, and I want to see him succeed. I'm no scout, but this is what I see-
Pro's : He could have left to be a starter but didn't - loyalty points (granted, Miami a dumpster fire franchise, so reduced points). Strong arm when he makes his mind up, quick release. Athletic, decent pocket presence, confidant, good leadership, and decent accuracy.
Cons: Slow to make a decision, seems to need to see a clear, obvious opening before throwing. This year a big focus in reffing is offensive holding (not just our game) so he's gotta get the ball out of his hands quicker.

I think the Saints will give Teddy every opportunity to right the ship, and I'm OK with that, but Taysom has most of these pro's with less cons, and the mobility is much better, if they are smart they'll give him his chance if things tank let's roll the dice.

I'd use both - to keepDefenses on their toes. I mean, it's one thing for Teddy to be tapped on the shoulder in the Rams game and "Get in there" as opposed to having a week to prep. So Im sure teddy will look better in Seattle but I would still bring Hill in and out at QB also - to keep them guessing an Hill is so good at scrambling for yards.

I believe that if anyone can get him up to speed with running the offense, SP can. But I give him 3 games to show me someething before Taysom Time...

Pocket presence isn't something dependent on which string someone practices with, its a personal thing. Don't forget TB was a starter for 28 games in Minnesota.... He isn't a rookie and he hasn't ridden the bench, he should be able to step in just like Drew stepped in.

I think key word in week 3 for Teddy is rhythm.

It all starts up front though.

Re: Teddy Bridgewater or Taysom Hill?

Bridgewater's demeanor might've looked passive and non-interested on Sunday, but the guy is a leader.

In Minnesota, players, coaching staff and beat writers were going on and on about how great of a leader TB was (is) - especially in the locker room. The team really latched on to him over there, which is why his injury was so devastating.

Do you guys think players would be mimicking his chopper celebration in Minnesota and in NO if they didn't really like the guy and see him as a significant part of the team?

I still remember his progression at the position in Minnesota, and when he took command of that offense - it was impressing to watch. Great things were expected of him in the upcoming season before the injury.

I choose to believe that Teddy is going to show up in Seattle and going forward from there, which will produce good results for the Saints.

Hill is a fan favorite and it's obvious why he is so liked, but as has been pointed out - he still has a lot to learn about the QB position, and I'd rather not see that learning take place at game-time as long as the season can still be salvaged.

Teddy has a strong and accurate arm, and he can do things with it that Brees at this stage of his career can't. He has good mobility and awareness, but needs time to gel with the O-line and the 1st string receivers.

There's no question about it in my opinion if Bridgewater should be the QB for as long as it takes for Brees to get back.

There's no replacing Brees, and anyone put in at his position will compare unfavorably.

This....There were times that he did get into a rhythm but like you mentioned the line failed him or it was some holding or offensive penalty that canceled the play. I’m telling you now, if the offense line doesn’t block neither QB will be successful. Hill can’t run every play...he won’t last long.

I was driving home from work earlier and happened to hear Dianna Russini on ESPN radio. She mentioned that Sean Payton signed the 5 year extension because he definitely sees a future in New Orleans post-Brees... and that future is Taysom Hill. Teddy Bridgewater is a bridge QB. She says Payton is enamored with Taysom Hill and can’t stop talking about his potential.

Even though this is stuff we all pretty much know already, Dianna Russini is pretty plugged in and connected so hearing an insider say it was very interesting.

Or maybe he is in the rare position to have two QBs signed and either one could go on to be the future of the team.

Re: Teddy Bridgewater or Taysom Hill?

I thought Teddy came in and looked okay at first. Then came the Int and the Thomas drop and then he looked terrible for the rest of the game. We know he is way better than he looked. Hopefully its just nerves. The team didn't help his situation either. When they stack the box like that we need to throw deep even if its incomplete it shows the defense he will take a shot. Payton will have them right for next game.

Run-advantage Taysom. Pass-advantage Taysom. Mobility-advantage Taysom. Release-Taysom. Fire-advantage Taysom.

Re: Teddy Bridgewater or Taysom Hill?

Compare unfavorably or unfairly to Drew. More idiocy. 2 field goals. Offensive line holding. Someone was holding the ball too long. Defense gave up points. Yeah, tTeddy doesn’t tackle... all CRAZY excuses. Defense was worn out because offense didn’t sustain drives. QB’s get paid because they influence so much. PERIOD

Well we have 3 QBs... I guess that Payton didn't want to put in Hill because he would get hurt quicker and we would have to put in the #3 QB.

Resurrected this FF thread as an interesting look back. While Teddy isn't here anymore, questions are buzzing on who's gunna be the QB.

Hill in my opinion. He just have to start securing the ball. Too many fumbles
