Jalen Ramsey

He requested a trade. 👀

No way at all - if Drew is out longer than expected, we could end up with a high draft pick, Jalen is a cancer and isnt worth that price tag.

Doesn’t seem like the kind of player we sign or draft.

We tank for Trevor Lawrence next year. Only chance we have of a real future. I don't want Tua, who will just be a diet coke Deshaun Watson at best.

Saints front office/coaching staff aren't "tanking" for any player.

Trevor Lawrence isn’t the only QB with potential in college right now.

Re: Jalen Ramsey

I dont see us having the ammo to pull off a move of that magnitude. Not without mortgaging away the future. With Drew nearing the end of his career I'd rather see us hold onto our picks and continue to draft well. Then maybe, just maybe you package some picks together the year Drew hangs em up and move up to get a QB.

As amazing as it is that I'm about to speak positively about an LSU QB, here I go: Some here are probably aware that LSU has a "passing game coordinator" named Joe Brady who came over from the Saints this year. I had little expectation that this would change anything, or that the offense would look anything like the Saints'. But, I'll be a monkey's crazy uncle if it doesn't look a lot like the Saints offense, and Joe Burrow has been running it to near perfection.

He's making NFL throws all over the field, and the back shoulder throws have been very Drewesque. I'm not saying he IS Drew, but his skill set, coupled with his familiarity with that offense should make him a very intriguing target for the Saints. I'm already hearing rumblings that some believe he'll be the third QB taken next year, behind Tua Tagayou'reitta, and Justin Herbert. I think he'll jump Herbert, and maybe both QB's depending on how teams feel about Tua's lack of height. So I don't know if the Saints would get an opportunity to draft any of those guys, but of the three, Burrow seems like a natural fit with the Saints.

You mean the best players at their position? We could use some of those “douche bags”.

Sorry, it was Fitzpatrick the Steelers got.

The talent level is crazy but I wouldn't be too happy to give up what the Jaguars would be asking for him.
Not a big fan of the personality typ either.

Then lets not add any more of it. I just sick of players acting up, demanding trades, holding out and trying to run the show.
You play a game and get paid handsomely to do it. If that is not to your liking as a player then quit and get another job. McDonalds is always hiring if you didn't get your degree.

Re: Jalen Ramsey

We sure could use his talent... every team could. With that said, not only is he going to cost us a bunch of picks, he's looking for a monstrous extension. Ramczyk, Lattimore, Kamara, etc. are due for extensions in the near future. We also have to black holes at safety and corners that can't cover. Those picks and that money will be crucial to the long term success of our team.

It's going to be a pass for me.

They earned the right to get paid handsomely. Nobody handed it to them. These guys are at the top of their positions in a business that barely employs 1,000 athletes. They don’t have to quit. They can leverage the demand for their skills into whatever situation they want; proven by Antonio Brown. If you’re the best of the best you have power. I’m glad they’re realizing that.

The thing is thou that the league could get rid of 10-20 of the absolute top players and people would still watch. there would be *****ing and moaning but that'd be gone in a month.

Then I want to see them do it. Let’s see them let go of the top 10 to 20 players so they can go to the XFL.

Aaron Donald
Drew Brees
Khalil Mack
Pat Mahomes
Todd Gurley
Tom Brady
Antonio Brown
Aaron Rodgers
Julio Jones
Von Miller
DeAndre Hopkins
JJ Watt
Alvin Kamara
Bobby Wagner
Saquon Barkley
Phillip Rivers
Ezekiel Elliott
Tyreek Hill
Travis Kelce

That’s the top 20 as chosen by the players. I’d love to see that scenario play out.

Re: Jalen Ramsey

Jalen Ramsey is HOF elite and he can see the #sh*tshow that is Jaguars Mgt/Coaching which is interesting considering HC Doug Marrone was Coach Payton's first OC here with the Saints...

If we'd spend two firsts on Davenport, do we spend two firsts on Ramsey?

With the looming possibility we collapse with Brees retirement and of Trevor Lawrence there and we continue to look like crap with Check-down Bridgewater...

I’d take Jalen Ramsey and pay him even if it meant that Marshon Lattimore walks in free agency. Jalen Ramsey is the better player. I love Marshon, but Jalen is a clear upgrade.

Without a doubt. He's consistently good. Slot, boundaries you name it.

Only person I put in his company is Patrick Petersen at the position.

Chiefs (severe need at CB), Philly & Ravens could be potential landing spots for Jalen.

Yeah, Jalen is clearly better; only way you get two CBs like that is if one falls to you in the draft...

If you've got two under contract, chances are you got nothing else on defense, talent-wise, under contract...

From Wikipedia, Minkah Fitzpatrick deal...

...On September 16, 2019, the Dolphins traded Fitzpatrick along with their 2020 fourth round and 2021 seventh round draft picks to the Pittsburgh Steelers for their 2020 first round, 2020 fifth round, and 2021 sixth round draft picks...

Agreed. Based on the same principle that sh1tty music sells out concerts. The part of the fanbase that is knowledgeable, is a very small percent of the total revenue generating fan-base that has no clue but throws money at it.

NFL fans show up to watch scabs, of course they would show up if 3 of their 53 man roster were not on the field. :dunce:

Totally agree. Here is what I believe is the deal on that. If you can play, Payton always has room on the roster for a couple of head cases or screwballs every year. What he DOESN'T do, is let the inmates run the asylum, or let the crazy or troublesome ones dictate the nature of the team, in the locker room, and he keeps the head cases on a very VERY short leash.

This has been true as long as he's been here. He's not averse to taking risks on screwball or "difficult" type players, he will bring them in, give troubled players second chances, etc. But he is VERY very careful and risk averse about the number of them in the locker room at any given time, and he never lets them gain critical mass on the roster, or dictate their own crazy baggage onto the team, or take away from his overall messaging.

Re: Jalen Ramsey

NFL fans show up to watch scabs..........

Notable 1987 "SPARE BEARS" scabs
Sean Payton (Quarterback) - coached the New Orleans Saints to victory in Super Bowl XLIV.
Tommy Barnhardt (Punter) - Had a 14-year career with several teams.
Lorenzo Lynch (Defensive back) - Had an 11-year career with 17 career interceptions.
John Wojciechowski (Offensive lineman) - Had a 7-year career solely with the Bears.
Glen Kozlowski (Wide Receiver/ Special Teams) - Had a 6-year career solely with the Bears.
Mike Hohensee (Quarterback) - coached the Chicago Rush to the ArenaBowl XX championship.
Mike Stoops (Safety) - former Arizona Wildcats head coach (2004-2011) and former defensive coordinator for the Oklahoma Sooners.

Re: Jalen Ramsey

I think the only photo of Sean Payton you ever see in a football uniform, appears to be the Bears game against the Saints. In a weird way, I remember that game. It was just a scab game and nobody really knew what to think at the time, I think it might have even been the first game with the 1987 scabs (would have to look it up), but something about that game always stuck in my mind, and I've always remembered it. Long after other games were forgotten. Weird.

And there is always another young player waiting to get his shot. Look to the Chargers with the Rb holdout. Didn't work out so good for him because the backup was very capable.
