Just a thought, Minshew is playing well in Jax which may put Nick Foles back on the market in the offseason or next at a discount. Nobody would be too surprised if Brees retired in the next year or two. Foles has won a Superbowl and he is undefeated in playoff games against opponents other than the Saints, so he might be unbeatable in the playoffs on the Saints. I think he is a good QB if he has a good QB guru coach like Payton. He went to the same HS as Brees. Alabama will tell you that failing in Florida after winning a championship elsewhere is not a career ender. I would rather Brees stay elite for 5 years or we find the next Maholmes in the draft, but I think Foles could be a decent option. It might be possible to do a 1 year test drive if the right rookie QB is not there when Brees retires.

Nick Foles is in his 30s and is pretty much a slightly above average QB.

Kinda like Flacco and Eli, people put way too much stock in him for having a ring.

If Brees retires, we should tank for Trevor Lawrence and not go for a washed up, mediocre QB in his 30s. Lawrence is going to be something special, and he'd be better off here than going to a horrible organization like Miami.

Kind of unlikely. We have TB and (especially) Hill and unless both really suck and show zero upside I doubt it.’Being said I have wanted Foles since the draft and I know Payton is very high on him. Being 30 doesn’t bother me one bit. He’s a good locker room guy and players really rally around him. He’s above average but was just a late bloomer. If it was monetarily friendly for the Saints I would. Especially on a cap friendly salary so we can pay who needs to be paid and draft a decent.
And no way we should tank. I doubt Brees would stand by quietly for that.

Hopefully this is not a question we have to face. Foles is okay but I'd rather find the next Drew Brees ... the guy who is younger and has had some experience but perhaps had an injury or whose value was suppressed by playing for a bad team. Or a rookie who is passed over who has Brees or Brady potential but will get passed over because everyone is oohing and ahhing over Tua and Lawrence.

Come on guys let’s see minishew against some cam Jordan ‘s of the nfl like 95% of all QBs let somebody game plan against him and they will find his flaws. The 5% is like mahommes type where there just studs and could beat your asre any way possible
