Todd Bouman?
20:07 PT: Bill Williamson reports for the Pioneer Press the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints were near completion on a trade that would send Vikings backup QB Todd Bouman to the Saints. Sources close to the Bouman talks said the Saints had agreed to a deal contingent on working out contract details with Bouman. Apparently, Baltimore also made a play for Bouman. The deal would be for a sixth-round draft pick in April, and possibly a 2004 pick conditional on Bouman's performance. Talks reportedly went late into Wednesday night. :casstet: |

I would pass. The last thing we need is another guy with off field problems. Maybe after his court hearing.

If you\'re going to give up a sixth-round pick, why not give it up for Rattay?

Because Rattay would have been logical.

said Loomis. \"Todd has proven he can provide a spark off the bench or be a consistent starter if called upon.\"
Seems like the bedroom is not the only place he can create sparks. Loomis says, off the bench. :casstet: :casstet: :casstet: :casstet: :casstet: [Edited on 14/3/2003 by subguy] |

INTERESTING!
I don\'t know if any of you caught Buddy D\'s show tonight, but he had on some guy (whose name I forget) who is one of Sports Illustrated\'s top analysts. This guy, for whatever it\'s worth, claims that Bouman is one of the top three backups in the league, and that he could definitely start if called upon. Also, supposedly Bouman was a witness to this assault that we\'ve all heard about by now. Well, as you may or may not know, if you are a witness to a crime and you don\'t report it you become an accessory. So, it sounds as if Bouman didn\'t do anything, he simply didn\'t report a crime. Maybe this was a good move after all... although I\'m still skeptical. |

Bouman did come off the bench in Minnesota and have a couple of 300+ yard games in relief of Culpepper. As for the off field problems, he just got caught doing what over half of players are probably doign already. I\'m not trying to justify what he did, but a high percentage of players would likely have questionable behaviour at some time in the year and he was dumb enough to get caught.
I don\'t like problem children, but if they play hard and are winners then what happens on the field speaks for itself. The NFL has no M for morality in my mind. |

Here\'s some of the better press on Bouman:
He has started three games and played in six contests during his career, completing 54-of-95 passes (56.8 completion pct.) for 880 yards and eight touchdowns, with four interceptions. All of Bouman’s starting experience came during the 2001 season, including when he earned NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors after a sterling performance vs. the Tennessee Titans in his first NFL start. In that game (12/9), Bouman completed 21 of 31 passes for 384 yards and four touchdowns. His passer rating of 131.5 set a Vikings’ record for a quarterback in his first start. In his initial NFL action the week before, Bouman came off the bench in the fourth quarter at Pittsburgh to complete 11 of 15 attempts for 200 yards and two TDs to spark a late rally. In 2002, Bouman saw action vs. the N.Y. Jets (Nov. 10), entering the game in the third quarter and engineering a pair of touchdown drives. In the contest, he completed three of six passes for 85 yards, including a 48-yard strike to Randy Moss. Bouman ended the game with a 95.8 passer rating. Sounds alot like what Jake did for us on the field as well. The downside is he will not be a fan favorite like Jake. |

In NFLE1999, there were 3 battles between Delhomme and Bouman. I believe, Bouman is a very substitute of Jake!
