Stefon Diggs has reportedly asked for a trade

Re: Stefon Diggs has reportedly asked for a trade
Not feasible for us. His cap hits are $15 mil/year for the next three or four years.

Re: Stefon Diggs has reportedly asked for a trade
Yep that’s the only reason we don’t want him ... it would be a ‘miracle’ if we signed him

Re: Stefon Diggs has reportedly asked for a trade
Wow. This team is truly falling to pieces and I couldn't be happier. I have always hated the Vikings since all their whining and moaning over the 2009 NFCCG. They have hands down, the worst fan base I have ever dealt with online. Which is something truly special cause their team has a legacy of failure and being losers, but they act like they've got 5 SB rings and are so special.
Minnesota over-achieved in 2017 and it has shown ever since. Case Keenum had one of those fluke career years for a mediocre QB that happens from time to time, but he came crashing back down to earth in the NFCCG (And Keenum's solid play amounted to very little that year. They had to squeak out wins in low scoring games against teams they were supposed to handle easily). Despite having the #1 ranked defense and being so hyped up, they didn't lead #1 in any category like yards, sacks or turnovers. We exposed that defense in the playoffs and lost on a fluke 'miracle'. Philly throttled them the next week since we had laid out the blueprint on how to attack that defense and proving they really weren't much to be scared of. These clowns really thought they were one piece away from a SB. So what do they do? Overpay a mediocre QB who just pads his stats in garbage time and has a 5-22 record all time vs teams above .500. People have been arguing with me for years about Kirk Cousins. He was never that good. In this era, any QB can put up good numbers in garbage time when you're down by 3 possessions. Crappy QBs like Ryan Tannehill, Fitzpatrick and Tyrod Taylor occasionally had good games that fooled people into thinking they could become something special. From "SB contenders" to now hoping to just make a wildcard. I wish we could get Diggs, but it would be impossible. |
Re: Stefon Diggs has reportedly asked for a trade
Minnesota is a good team with a 2-1 record, and their only loss was against GB at Lambeau, which they could've won if couple of plays went differently in the 4th quarter.
Their O-line has improved since last season especially in pass protection and their offense seems much more potent with Kubiak helping on that side and Cook running like he did in his first year before the injury. Their defense is full of top talent and it's run by Zimmer himself, who is as good of a defensive-mind as Payton is on the offensive side of the game. They have good WRs in Thielen and Diggs with a good TE in Rudolf and a very promising TE prospect in Irv Smith Jr. I'm not a fan of Cousins, but he can be a really good QB, and I'm sure he'll improve with the new offense and when he gets more time with the rookie center Bradbury. Diggs is a primadonna and wants the spotlight to be on him. Thielen has outplayed him, which is why he has been more highlighted in the first games. He has absolutely no reason to demand a trade if that is in fact what he has done. |
Re: Stefon Diggs has reportedly asked for a trade
We simply can't afford him. Draft a rookie with a high draft pick and follow the blue print that Ireland brought us. Besides, our free agent acquisitions have been suspect for years. Demario Davis is our lone exception. We need a new pro scouting department imho.

Pass.
Continue to develop your roster through the draft. See MT, Kamara, Ramz, Armstead, Bell, Latt etc. |

If Aaron Rodgers had not regressed into a below average QB, Green Bay blows them out badly in that game. It was Rodgers crap play that kept killing drives for GB and keeping the Vikes alive in that game. Cousins is all time 5-22 vs teams with a winning record. If his name was Matt Ryan, no one on this forum would dare defend him. People are fooled by Cousins and have been fooled for years now cause he pads his stats in garbage time of blowout losses and will put up a great game against the trash teams on their schedule. Washington fans figured this out years ago and it don't look to have changed at all. They're a talented team, but they were a talented team last year too. Like last year, they are going to blow out the trash teams on their schedule, and then lay down and get destroyed by the good teams. They will go 8-8 and spend another season of people arguing about how great Kirk Cousins' stats are and blaming everything else on the team. I hate Minnesota as much as I do the 49ers though, so I enjoy their misery. |

People starting to run with this...

And I understand that you like to throw around that stat about him losing to teams with winning records, but that doesn't necessarily translate to Minnesota. I'm pretty sure that almost everyone agrees that he was overpaid, but that is how it goes when only a certain number of QBs are FAs at a given offseason and the bidding war ensues over their emoloyment. I'd still argue that the Vikes are one of the stronger teams in the NFC. |

I like it too.
Warford restructured yesterday so we're using the $2.75M on someone. |
Re: Stefon Diggs has reportedly asked for a trade
What soured me on Diggs was in the GB game when he scored - he celebrated by taking of his helmet and posing to the cameras.
By doing this he earned the team a penalty, which led to a pushed back extra point kick that was subsequently missed. That was different to me than for example what Thomas did with the flip-phone, because it was all about getting his (Diggs') face on the next days paper. And I used the word "highlighted" because Thielen has double the receptions than Diggs (11>6) and he has looked much more sure-handed and more open than Diggs in the first 3 games. |

I see what you did there. Do we want a constant reminder of that event on our team? Yes, I think we could update our WR core, but let's not overpay someone. |

I want Ramsey but doubt that happens.
Usually when they sign someone mid season it will be someone similar to like how we got Eli Apple. |
Re: Stefon Diggs has reportedly asked for a trade
I would rather have Thielen.

Imagine all the TD passes being thrown to Diggs by Jimmy G after getting great field position from the interceptions by Malcom Butler..............

Re: Stefon Diggs has reportedly asked for a trade
Diggs is a constant complainer like Brandon cooks , and there going to stomp there feet till they get the location they want to be.

Re: Stefon Diggs has reportedly asked for a trade
Arn't the Vikings on for a whole heap of dead money if they trade him. They only re-signed him last offseason. Shame as him and Thomas would make a genuine 1-2 punch not seen since Colston and Graham

Re: Stefon Diggs has reportedly asked for a trade
With the new contracts for Bell, Ramczyk and Kamara($$$$$$$), i have a funny feeling Onyamata could be the odd man out and ended up price out of a deal, due i dont see much room for a second expensive WR. The new CBA will be very very interesting. IMHO the money for certain positions is getting far to high and i can see it being a issue within the Union. Safeties and non rushing LB are not going to like their salaries stall so teams can pay skill players in the tens of millions.
I think there is a chance to open up the teams cap with a few players contracts in the summer,Kiko Alonso for expamble contract is pretty much cuttable next summer and i think Easton will be gone. Armstead and Warford are out of the dead money phase, if Armstead doesn't stay healthy wouldn't be a shock to see his name in for a trade, especially if the front office fall in love with a QB prospect in the draft and need the capital to move. |
Re: Stefon Diggs has reportedly asked for a trade
Cousins is such a weird case. Part of me senses he has the mental makeup and intangibles and enough mechanics to be a top QB. It's not likely he could ever be as good as Brees, but I would at least think he could get to Rivers level. But there is something mentally holding him back, almost like he is trying too hard. He's making too much money for that to be the outcome.
