At least he didn't just throw the ball up to avoid the sack and getting a pick 6.

Well actually Payton needed to stress that he needed to throw the ball away out of bounds of he didn't see anyone open.

So no just taking the sack was not the answer.

Yeah but Teddy got to know the situation here. He isn't a rookie.

You cannot take a sack. Horrible decision.
