RIP, his death was a real tragedy. Almost been in a similar situation of road rage myself.

There are several former Saints that were better, should be elected before him, e.g. Pat Swilling, Sam Mills, Wayne Martin, La'Roi Glover, Marques Colston, and there's also Tommy Myers, Derland Moore, Stan Brock... Truth is this is probably coming from Coach P and the emotions of fans, friends, family for the tragic way in which his life ended; doing something for the family, and I get that, and that's why I'm happy for them... |

That guy was mostly overlooked in the early 90's cause the Dome Patrol LBs were the stars, but Martin was productive beginning in his rookie season and through those last few years with the whole Dome Patrol LB core. Martin was still effective in the twilight of the Mora years when our defense collapsed. He even played at a high level under Ditka. I believe the team wanted him to come back for one final year in 2000 due to how productive he had been. He could've left us and went to chase a ring in Denver or Green Bay after Mora was gone, but he stayed with us to the end of his career. Respect. |
