Patriots, Chiefs, Ravens, Saints, Eagles, Seahawks among teams already laying groundwork for frenzied trade deadline

The Saints, Eagles, Ravens, Chiefs, Patriots and Seahawks have been among the most active teams, league sources said, hopeful of addressing roster needs to fortify what they believe can be Super Bowl runs. Many of these teams have already been in pursuit of disgruntled Jaguars star corner Jalen Ramsey, who still could be dealt ahead of the deadline; the Chiefs, Eagles, Ravens and Saints, in particular, are pushing for corner upgrades.

The Patriots have issues at the offensive line, tight end and receiver, and are expected to push for players like Bengals receiver A.J. Green and/or tight end Tyler Eifert; those players also appeal to the Saints, sources said, who made a real effort to land Denver's Emmanuel Sanders a year ago and likely would again.

Is it just me or are there more in season trades now than in the past.

Nvm article answered my question.

By week six, you know who you are, and if you suck, you can move overpaid players. Stock up on rookie contracts and ride a new wave

I am glad we aren't in a rebuild mode. This is not MLB or NBA where you have a minor league to develop players. Dolphins and others are going to find out it's counterproductive to have too many young players on bad teams - there will be no sense of community in the locker room and too many guys will flop due to being thrown into the fire too soon. The bad teams might as well hang onto their stars and sell more tickets and merch even if they are losing games.

We need #2 receiver to go for broke this year
The youngsters, Ginn and company can't open things up for Kamara and Thomas

I'll continue to beat the drum for adding another vet WR to the mix.

Tre, Carr ... consistently shaky & still disappear late in games. MT needs the help.

I'd love to trade for Emmanuel Sanders or even AJ Green ...now that would be something.

I can understand having concerns about the CB position... Eli Apple and PJ Williams are both free agents after the season. Chris Harris Jr. would be an awesome get, but retaining him long-term would probably be pricier than Eli Apple and he’s 30.

I think an Emmanuel Sanders trade is going to happen.

I'll throw my hat in the ring for another receiver as well.

I'll take Diggs, he has the it factor and wants it badly.

I'm sorry but we are not getting beat with Brees and Diggs added to the current team.

If we are going to bring in a vet receiver, and if he's in shape (and let's REALLY vet it this time) I'd rather bring in Dez to avoid giving up future draft pics in trades.

Thomas, Ginn, and Sanders is the perfect combination. Star, burner, route runner.

Colston, Henderson, and Moore.

Unfortunately that's just a pipe dream that he has anything left in the tank.

Otherwise I'm with you all the way.

Sanders would cost a lot less than Diggs, so it's more appealing from that standpoint.

And Sanders is a carbon copy of Moore.

Chiefs are in trouble tonight. We could have the same record as the darling of the NFL.

Yep. We now have the same record as the Chiefs. We could be the new Chiefs with the media.

Mahommes has no mobility on that gimpy ankle.

CHA_CHING 10-06-2019 10:22 PM

Re: Patriots, Chiefs, Ravens, Saints, Eagles, Seahawks among teams already laying groundwork for frenzied trade deadline

Mahomes accuracy was off before his ankle got messed up.

He's basically the new Aaron Rodgers; tries to wow everyone with his mobility and trying to do stuff for highlight reels. Several times, he rolls out of the pocket, lets the play break up and then tries to launch a bomb down field.

KC is going to run into a team like Green Bay did with the Giants in 2011, 49ers in 2012 and 2013, Seahawks in 2014 and Broncos in 2015 that completely exposes Mahomes and they can't overcome it. Aaron Rodgers hasn't been the same QB since Denver showed the world how to beat him in that 2015 game.

Re: Patriots, Chiefs, Ravens, Saints, Eagles, Seahawks among teams already laying groundwork for frenzied trade deadline

Chiefs WR's are worse than ours. Tyreek is way over hyped. Watkins is constantly injured. Hardman catches like one pass a game. Their run game is pathetic as well. Only good player is Kelce and he dropped several tonight.

Mahommes is good but he has been figured out. Roll out right. He does it every play. He can't even do that anymore with the injury. Willing to bet they start tanking hard.

CHA_CHING 10-06-2019 10:52 PM

Re: Patriots, Chiefs, Ravens, Saints, Eagles, Seahawks among teams already laying groundwork for frenzied trade deadline

The Lions SHOULD'VE beat them if they coached a better game.

The Patriots have a rule that if you extend your hand like that over the line, they'll cut you from the team. That was just a dumb move on their part leading to that 100 yard fumble return for a TD.

Mahomes and K.C. needed multiple tick-tacky calls to keep that drive alive in the end.

CHA_CHING 10-06-2019 10:55 PM

Re: Patriots, Chiefs, Ravens, Saints, Eagles, Seahawks among teams already laying groundwork for frenzied trade deadline

The only AFC team that truly frightens me so far this season is New England.

Brady is 42 and looks it, but their defense is scary so far early in the season. It will be interesting to see what kind of damage they can do once they start playing better teams. So far they haven't truly been tested, but they still give me a scary vibe like the 2015 Broncos.

I have no doubt whatsoever they're going to win the AFC. There isn't another team in the whole conference that can stop them. Kansas City is so overhyped but they're still coached by Andy Reid who will find a way to screw it up. They nearly lost to the Colts last year in the divisional round. It's a big question if they'll even make it to face New England again.

The only thing keeping NE afloat is that defense. It's impressive. Their offense gets shutdown a lot early but that D cleans it all up and hands it to Brady. If their D was average they'd get crushed.

Just like the 2015 Broncos. That team finished in the bottom ranks on every offensive category, especially first downs. Their offense was so bad, most of their wins were close when they could've been blow outs judging by the stat sheet and how well their defense was holding teams down. They are historically one of the greatest defenses of all time and also have one of the worst offenses to ever win a SB. A true testament of how bad their offense was, is that they actually improved offensively the following year despite going 9-7.

They only had three games that entire year where their QB (the corpse of Peyton Manning or Brock Osweiler) put together an impressive third down conversion stat line and yet in all three of those games, they still turned the ball over and required their defense to put on a masterful performance.

This year's Pats team truly reminds me of them, but the AFC is weaker this year than it was in 2015 so I doubt they'll need the help Denver required.

Sanders contract is up at the end of the year. A late round pick would make loads of sense for everyone. Broncos going nowhere get a pick, Saints get a legit number 2,Sanders gets to chase a ring and bolster his numbers for a last deal.

And even if he prices himself next year the comp the next year should be recoup the loss of next years pick

I'm even in for a rent-a-player at WR.
Get someone for the year and then see if we have the dough to keep him.

Ramsey not playing , what if they were waiting till after the saints game for the trade . We’ve seen this before. U don’t trade a player to a team your going to play down the road. Ahhhhhh ? Think about it.

I had been more inclined to stick with who we have, but I'm changing my mind on Emmanuel Sanders. He's in the last year of his deal and his contract isn't too high anyway. No downside presuming we can compensate for losing the draft pick with good scouting.

Re: Patriots, Chiefs, Ravens, Saints, Eagles, Seahawks among teams already laying groundwork for frenzied trade deadline

Other than a legit #2 WR, a young blocking TE, or possibly a starting caliber swing offensive lineman, while taking into account the possibility of stealing a player from one of the tanking teams, I really don't expect the Saints to do anything. The Saints were a horrible play and the worst blown call in the history of football away from going to the last two Super Bowls. If going all in and giving up some future draft picks widens that margin of error for this season, I'm absolutely good with it.

If that deal would only cost say a 6th or 7th rounder ... do it.

Emmanuel can help.

We need to bolster Offensive Guard, namely Peat... He is not preforming this year and arguable what led to Drew's thumb injury. He looks out of Shape.

Disappointing from a guy selected so high in the draft a few years ago. Then add in mental errors & penalties. I for one will be surprised if Peat is on the Saints roster in 2020. Weak link on the O line. In my eyes, very replaceable.

He's definitely not worth what he's being paid.

100% hes the weak link, I feel Warford isnt that great either though.

McCoy looks very promising, I never hear his name on game day so thats a good thing.
Both our tackles could be viewed as top 5 in the league.

However our guards are the weak points, fond memories of when we had Jahri Evans and Carl Nick's. Those guys were monsters.
