Doesn’t take a genius to connect the dots. Give Taysom a shot, if he’s worse than Teddy, then we’re screwed regardless after Brees leaves.

You're making a mistake if you think any of this is about a post Brees era. Right now a SB win is within reach. It's not the time to experiment.

TB is 4-0 starting. Brees will be back. All the Saints need to do right now is what they are doing...

The mistake is assuming all variables will remain constant. Kamara’s already not 100%, care to guess what happens if he actually misses games as well?

Im just happy we are at 5-1. I would've guessed maybe 2-3 right now and hoping for a wild card when Brees returns. Im over excited with these results.

Put me in the camp that doesn't give two chits about style points or how we arrive at winning games. However you can get it, a win is a win. They are extremely hard to come by at this level.

I'll let others debate on Teddy.

He could not read the defense and went to his safety valves MT AK and seldom looked any place else. He looked absolutely zoned out on the bench. Sure he did not lose the game but Murray and Cook and Thomas carried the offense today when it counted.

To me he’s nothing more than a viable backup. Hot and cold and inconsistent. That being said he did attempt to spread the ball around a lot more today. Ginn got several targets, Cooks and J Hill.

Or if we are down 2 scores and have to play from behind with 5 minutes left on the clock. Situations like that is when you want your experienced Hall of Fame Qb in the game. We are doing just fine with Teddy now but sooner or later we are going to have to be able to win a shootout. I’ll take games like today every week all season long as long as we get a win but I also want to know if it comes down to pulling us out of a big hole we have a QB who can. We know we have that with Brees. Teddy not so much.
I’m thrilled we have a backup that can keep us in games though.

There are a lot of teams who don’t have one QB they can with and we have two. They would be in utter disbelief if they saw how unhappy some of this fan base is right now.

Dak Bortles ..

And his camp is looking for a ridiculous pay day yet he can't beat the Jets.

So when are they spreading those false rumors on SP again?

I think Dallas beat reporter Clarence Williams will finally let that one go. He's literally stirred the pot on that one for over 7 years.

Ask the Jets, they have a good D, good running game, good special teams, but without their #1 QB they were 0-5.

Re: Observations from the Saints win vs Jaguars

In a strange way, I think losing Brees will be better for the team in the long run. The defense has been able to kind of step out of the offense’s shadow and not be an afterthought. It’s not “We have Brees so we always have a chance.” Now it’s “We have to impose our will to have a chance.”

D executed the gameplan well...

The run game needs to step up, we haven't run well this year.

Teddy, as expected... Not good, back to check down teddy. I'll tell you one thing, if we would have lost this game it would have been Teddys loss. Aside from the normal bad QB play he missed several throws. Defense won this one, can't wait for Drew to come back.

Lastly, if we beat Chicago it's going to look the same. Teddy just needs to avoid losing the game and our D will keep us in it.

Re: Observations from the Saints win vs Jaguars

Yes we are 5-1, it is because we are finding ways to win... Different ways each week. Maybe that exhibits the teams diversity in talent, maybe its just luck.

What troubles me the most is that the only consistent thing week to week is the Win and game-play from CGM. No one that understands the game of football is comfortable with inconstancy.

Good or bad Teddy Bridgewater is not consistent, our O-Line game play is not consistent; running backs, receivers, defensive backfield... Nothing is consistent.

This is why some posters refuse to be enamored by the record. The 5-1 record is not evidence of our execution, its a product of a string of lucky events. The team did not travel well this week and for the most part looked like hot crap. Hopefully we are past the 'settling in' that happens the start of every season and we start playing consistent Saints football so we can all start enjoying what it feels like to just be good.:bng:

When I see him on TV and they present Dilfer as a "SB Champion" I roll my eyes. Yes, he is a SB champ but Danny Heisman Wuerffel could have won a SB with that defense. They both need their own special area in the HOF.

One more "small" observation ...

How about that open field tackle Chauncey Gardner-Johnson made on Leonard Fournette. Textbook tackle and technique. Head up, chin up and wrapped up. Beautiful form.

He looked like a safety on that play.

Re: Observations from the Saints win vs Jaguars

- 5-1.
- If defense wins championships.................. :)
- Liked the all white look.
- Cook getting involved.
- Murray getting involved.
- No turnovers.

- Didn't get the need to force the ball to Ginn.
- Kamara is a tough guy but he wasn't himself. The coaches should have over ruled the player and sat him. He and Thomas are more valuable than Brees since there's nobody behind them.

- The officiating around the league is atrocious.
- The Rams OLine or lack thereof is going to have fans nicknaming Jared CoCo.
- Jason Garrett should be fired today. Dak should have signed for whatever was offered.
- Allen undefeated with the Panthers. I'm sure Cam is happy for him and the team.
- Failclowns...........LOL!

That was gonna be a pretty good run. CGJ's closing speed shut that off and his physicality shut that down. Bringing him down in the open field is no small feat.

How many times did Calais Campbell get in? I heard his name a couple of times. Besides that, he was held in check pretty well.

Another solid performance by All Pro RT (at least in my eyes) Ryan Ramczyk.

I'm trying to keep my Black and Gold glasses off when analyzing players but ...

Thomas Morestead - 6 punts, 5 of which were inside the 20 yard line. My son pointed it out that he's not only kicking the ball well but it has a damn back spin on it to roll away an extra 5, 6 yards. Jacksonville were pinned back with poor position a lot.

TM is truly a weapon @ punter.

Re: Observations from the Saints win vs Jaguars

A win is a win is a win. Loved watching this.

1. Penalties was way down. This is very important going forward.

2. Teddy was solid yet unspectacular. His second half was a lot better than the first. Dilfer has been mentioned and Brad Johnson won a SB too by not causing them to lose.

3. Cook caught all of his targets and especially the TD impressed me.

4. Great day for Morstead. Again.

5. Our run D is outstanding. The streak of keeping RBs under 100yds is still alive.

6. Thomas just keeps snagging the balls. He had a surprising drop early on thou.

7. Best game so far by Murray. I really like when he just powers trough. I would like to see him some in the I-formation.

8. Ginn was finally visible again and looked allright. We need Smith back thou.

9. Good coverage trough most of the game.

10. Cam Jordan had his best game of the season. The way he bullrushed that tackle was beautiful to see.

Field position goes a LONG way to winning football games. Yesterday was yet another example. Morestead is worth every penny we pay him.

We finally had a game with the old punisher role RB then Kamara with the finesse. It is a demoralizer for defenses. Wears them the hell out to the point of submission. Whiffing on Kamara then get hit with a sledge hammer over and over.
