How good are the Bears?

Week 1- lost to Green Bay, 10-3
Week 2- beat the awful 1-4 Broncos, 16-14
Week 3- beat the awful 1-4 Redskins, 31-15
Week 4- beat the Vikings, 16-6
Week 5- lost to the Raiders, 24-21

Need more from TB this week. Holding the ball and off target throws will not beat the bears D.

I hope Mitchell plays.

Re: How good are the Bears?

Defensively the Bears are stout ...

Offensively though? ...meh (see last week's Oakland game). I'm not sure if we get Chase or Trubisky. Neither are world beaters under center.
Currently the Bears rank #30th offensively.

Bears are good but definitely beatable.

Re: How good are the Bears?

The Bears defense is for real, and the worrying part is that they can force turnovers to swing field position, and they can score on D....

Offensively, they aren't much. Scoring will be a big deal.

Like all our games now, this will be like one of those old Dome Patrol games....if Bobby Hebert can just string together a few first downs, get the offense over the helmet at midfield, and into the other team's side of the field, then Morten can kick field goals and we hope and pray that our defense should be able to keep them out of the other end zone. With the offenses that both teams have right now, every scoring opportunity and every trip across midfield, is going to be a big deal for both teams.

Akiem Hicks will be out. RG Kyle Long is going on IR. Chase Daniel will be playing QB. I like our chances.

Re: How good are the Bears?

Southlake's (Chase) finest!!!

Edit - I like to mention SL Carroll High any chance I get because it's close to me here in Bedford & have churned out some decent players over the last decade. At one point they used to dominate 6A High School football. I quit counting but I think they are up to 7 or 8 State Titles now. Allen (Kyler Murray) is now the new "powerhouse" in Texas.

Notable names from that Southlake storied program ....

Chase Daniel
Jordan Humphrey ... he was just so much bigger than the other kids.
Garrett Hartley ... he was actually a very good soccer player. My son plays for his former club now (Mid-Cities Tejanos).
Greg McElroy

I would often see Sean Payton at SL Carroll games when he was with the Cows.

Re: How good are the Bears?

With Hicks, defense is elite...without Hicks they're still pretty darn good. Offense is pedestrian at best, garbage at worst with Chase as trigger man.

Honestly, the Bears' circumstances within their division will have them playing at a high level as they need to keep pace with GB & the Lions (really?). Coming off a bye is in their favor, too. They will not go away easily for 4 QTRs.

We stop the run and win turnover battle, we win. Easy formula that can apply to any game. Have this nagging feeling special teams will decide this game.

Re: How good are the Bears?

I believe that if Chase starts Payton knows how to get under his skin. They are down two other starters as well. One on offense and one on defense.

Re: How good are the Bears?

should be a similar game to what we just saw, although the Bears offense is much worse. Trubisky nor Chase smh Daniel will do much against our D.

Hopefully we click a little more offensively, because we were awful vs Jax

weather looks good, and if AK is healthy we'll win 23-10

Re: How good are the Bears?

Their defense is no longer good. Lost Hicks. Raiders made a mockery of both their lines which also just got worse.

It's gonna be a bad day for them and many more ahead. They won't get anywhere near the playoffs.

We finally get to see how good Ramcyzk really is. He held Watt without a stat in week 1, can he stop Mack?

I expect he'll get aome help from the RB's every now and again.

He plays from both sides that’s the problem

Re: How good are the Bears?

Their defense is legit but their offense is trash.

The whole NFC North is a clown show this year despite having winning records.

Green Bay looks like an average team but is playing a weak schedule.

Lions are the same old Lions.

Vikings will come back down to earth next time they face a legit team.

Re: How good are the Bears?

It’s going to still be a slugfest but the most important thing will be taking care of the ball. Trubisky will not be 100% if they do go with him and we know enough about Chase to contain him. Chicago is thinking that this will be low scoring so they will be very conservative on offense.

Re: How good are the Bears?

So my in-laws from my wife's side of the family have picked the Saints...

Sister in law tells me this game probably ends with a game killing INT from Trubisky or Daniel.

Brother in law thinks the Saints take care of business.

I think special teams will be the X factor. Harris better hold on to the ball.

Bears are a bad team. Defense is horrible. It has been masked by playing inferior teams. Glad this will finally be exposed.

I think this may be the one that unseats Brees as our starting QB.

Re: How good are the Bears?

I could totally see Teddy gashing them with 5 TD's. This could be the one. Many would say Miami is the worst. Maybe so but the Bears are 1a. Not far behind.
