Re: How good are the Bears?

Need more from TB this week. Holding the ball and off target throws will not beat the bears D.

Re: How good are the Bears?

Defensively the Bears are stout ...

Offensively though? ...meh (see last week's Oakland game). I'm not sure if we get Chase or Trubisky. Neither are world beaters under center.
Currently the Bears rank #30th offensively.

Bears are good but definitely beatable.

Re: How good are the Bears?

The Bears defense is for real, and the worrying part is that they can force turnovers to swing field position, and they can score on D....

Offensively, they aren't much. Scoring will be a big deal.

Like all our games now, this will be like one of those old Dome Patrol games....if Bobby Hebert can just string together a few first downs, get the offense over the helmet at midfield, and into the other team's side of the field, then Morten can kick field goals and we hope and pray that our defense should be able to keep them out of the other end zone. With the offenses that both teams have right now, every scoring opportunity and every trip across midfield, is going to be a big deal for both teams.

Akiem Hicks will be out. RG Kyle Long is going on IR. Chase Daniel will be playing QB. I like our chances.

Re: How good are the Bears?

Southlake's (Chase) finest!!!

Edit - I like to mention SL Carroll High any chance I get because it's close to me here in Bedford & have churned out some decent players over the last decade. At one point they used to dominate 6A High School football. I quit counting but I think they are up to 7 or 8 State Titles now. Allen (Kyler Murray) is now the new "powerhouse" in Texas.

Notable names from that Southlake storied program ....

Chase Daniel
Jordan Humphrey ... he was just so much bigger than the other kids.
Garrett Hartley ... he was actually a very good soccer player. My son plays for his former club now (Mid-Cities Tejanos).
Greg McElroy

I would often see Sean Payton at SL Carroll games when he was with the Cows.

Re: How good are the Bears?

With Hicks, defense is elite...without Hicks they're still pretty darn good. Offense is pedestrian at best, garbage at worst with Chase as trigger man.

Honestly, the Bears' circumstances within their division will have them playing at a high level as they need to keep pace with GB & the Lions (really?). Coming off a bye is in their favor, too. They will not go away easily for 4 QTRs.

We stop the run and win turnover battle, we win. Easy formula that can apply to any game. Have this nagging feeling special teams will decide this game.

Re: How good are the Bears?

I believe that if Chase starts Payton knows how to get under his skin. They are down two other starters as well. One on offense and one on defense.
