They probably hoped he cleared waivers (like Humphrey and Butler) to be added to the practice squad, but J'Ville claimed him meaning they had to add him to their active roster. They would have to release him and hope he clears waivers to move him down to their practice squad. Right now he's just taking up a space on their 53. If he was really worth it right now he would have been activated. Perhaps he just isn't picking things up as well as they hoped. Possibly what happened as a Saints, as well.
