Tyler Eifert ... injury history scares the absolute s** out of me. Terrific talent but can you count on him to suit up on Sundays?

OJ Howard ... young, terrific talent I could get on board with but why would a NFC South rival trade with a team contending for a trophy?

I actually like the other TE from Cincy ... TYLER BOYD.

Cancel that. He was recently extended :(.

This reminds me of the "Saints to send a #1 for Jimmy Garoppolo!!!!" Then "The Saints to send a #1 for Malcolm Butler!!!"

Re: 2019 New Orleans Saints: Trade Deadline

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: Buy wide receiver DeVante Parker. The Saints have needed a reliable WR2 across from Michael Thomas since last season and have yet to land on one. Ted Ginn Jr. is third on the team with 18 catches, and the next-most-productive WR is Tre'Quan Smith (five grabs). A.J. Green feels unattainable at this point, so New Orleans should follow the league's lead and raid Miami's cupboard for its top receiving trade piece. Parker has been productive of late, but in his final year under contract, would serve Miami best as a trade asset. Potential compensation: 2020 third-round pick.

Re: 2019 New Orleans Saints: Trade Deadline

The running joke on Parker is sometimes he clogs his helmet with dirty socks and can't see the field.

He's no better than what we have. If that was not the case he would have been snagged a while back.

Everyone is asking me what we will do before the trade dead line and all I can do is repeat what I've read here. People think I'm in the know....thanks ya'll. :p

The local rumor peddlers are saying a trade for Tyler Eifert is gaining steam.

I wonder if the Saints front office realize Tyler is NEVER healthy?

I don’t get it either. I guess with limited resources we have to be bargain shoppers.

Dang.

If the Saints were really rolling the dice, give me the other guy sitting in Cincy. It would be like having two #1's on the field at once. Thomas on one side and Green on the other.

Pipe dream though.

It's gonna really suck if AJ lands in Green Bay.

I'm hearing the Bears aren't feeling it this year and may move on from Allen Robinson...

Considering the QB's that he's had to play with? I'd love to land Allen.

I doubt that but it would be the best signing of them all. Brees would turn him into mini MT.

Well Robbie is a burner & Ginn is getting old ...

I'd say NO to Agholor. He eats too much popcorn ... butter fingers.

But at the end of the day, no one gets me fired up like AJ Green but that's just me.

Re: 2019 New Orleans Saints: Trade Deadline

IF Larry Fitzgerald would be willing to leave Arizona, that'd be huge opposite @CantGuardMike...

Arizona would have to take no more than a sixth round pick for essentially a three month rental; his cap number is $11.25 this year and we're half way through the season...

They might be willing to let him go win a ring with the Saints as he's been incredibly loyal to them; and he could come back to them next season with a Superbowl ring in tow to help them continue developing...

This would make me very happy.

Don't like Eifert injury history
Don't like Greens probable cost and recent injury history

Don't like the idea of giving the Dolphins or Jets more than a 5th for WRs entering FA especially with no 2nd rounder.

Some talk of Corey Davis being available
I'd like that.

Weird rumours that Evan Engram might be on the block. I'd give them our first to be honest for him. Really opens up the offense. Dread to think of him going to the Pats

Re: 2019 New Orleans Saints: Trade Deadline

I don't like an AJ Green trade cause I think it'd be too expensive, and I think he's very very slightly overrated and would command more than he is worth. TBH I'm still confident that Tre'quan is going to come back and impress. He was looking good before the injury and I think once healthy he's going to surprise people. I'm still only partially confident in Jared Cook. He's a talented skilled player, but I worry about his ability to shine when the lights are on him. He's put up good numbers in the past, but mostly for bad teams. I see someone that's playing a bit tight and nervous when I watch him. Either another WR or TE would be a good move. I'd really like another top tier CB, but I'm not sure we have the resources to pull something off. I think if you added someone like Patrick Peterson to this defense, we'd have the best defense in football. Apple is sufficient, but he's not someone with shut down potential and sometimes ends up out of place or ends up getting beat. Hopefully we'll pull off something big. If we could get high trade value for Bridgewater, I'd actually pull the trigger on a trade there too. I do think someone like the bears would be willing to take a risk on him.

Re: 2019 New Orleans Saints: Trade Deadline

Only way I'd trade Bridgewater and I doubt I would as you'd want to see Drew play through a game without a issue would be for a top 15-20 pick so you can get a QB in the draft

jeanpierre 10-25-2019 07:59 AM

Re: 2019 New Orleans Saints: Trade Deadline

Why would any team trade a high pick for Teddy Bridgewater at this point?

You know your team sucks balls and your going to get a high draft pick in a draft that looks to be very deep at quarterback this upcoming draft?

Rub all the black and gold all over yourselves, but objectively watching the games, Bridgewater at best is a game manager, a Brad Johnson-type QB...

Now, if your team is loaded as this Saints team is, you can win with Teddy, but he's not going to go out and go toe-to-toe and win a passing duel...

With all the QBs coming out in the upcoming draft, teams will sign veteran quarterbacks to big, but non-guaranteed numbers to develop those picks...

But they'll be back on the market within a year, signing for much less, but guaranteed jobs for at least two to three more seasons as backups...

Ok, let’s do this. We’ll have two weeks to get a guy integrated and up to speed. Fullback wheel routes and our RB catching 9 passes is fine when the defense has terrible LB’s like the Cardinals, but we need another guy to test secondaries.

Watching the highlights of the Cincy game ....

This team could possibly win 1 game all season. They really need to listen and entertain the thought of trading AJ Green by next Tuesday.

Preferably with the Saints.

Word on the streets is we’re thinking about making a move for WR Golden Tate. I read something about because of his suspension the guaranteed money on his new contract with the Giants was voided.

Golden Tate? Saints killer? OMG.

Solid #2. SOLID.

I'm hopeful Loomis is Loomising.

Re: 2019 New Orleans Saints: Trade Deadline

Thinking about this in light of my earlier post in "15 TD passes to go for Brees to become all time leader" I believe that the challenge will be to find a receiver that has the necessary skill set between his ears.

Three receivers who performed well in the Saints' offense include Thomas, Colston and Watson. None of these guys had speed, which really didn't matter because Brees doesn't have the big arm and rarely holds the ball long enough for the big plays to develop anyway. So, to fit into this system receivers need to be able to see what Bree's sees before the snap and find the seams for 5, 10, or 20 yards. One remark made about Colston was that his ability to read coverage was like having a 2nd QB on the field.

If you look as free agents and draft picks who have failed to develop, they all seem to fit this same pattern. So, any receiver will have to come with a high football IQ to have an impact.

Tate would be sensational in the slot.
Still leaves Ginn to open the field in 3WR sets add Taysom in on various TE, WRroutes with Cook out that's going to be hell to stop

Jets trade Leonard Williams to the Giants.

The Giants gave up more than they got last season in return for the best NT in the league (Damon Harrison)... Idiots.

Nuts isnt it

A 5th last year wasn't it?

Giving up a 3rd and a 5th for a DT when you
Spent a 1st last year on a DE in Lawrence too

Williams is a FA at the end of the year and they are going to be high end 3/5th too

Expensive Contract, we sign him, we likely can't afford to re-sign younger Eli Apple - pick your poison...

I like this team with two great CBs and only one great WR vs the other way...

Know it's frustrating none of the WRs have stepped up, thought they all looked better with Brees at QB, but I'd rather have two CBs that can ball out...

And for what it's worth, if it wasn't for cap numbers, agree Tate would be the perfect complement to Thomas...

Brees doesn't even have the strongest arm on the Saints, but he's got enough still, but more the experience and smarts, to release the ball downfield and generally be successful...

Though I'd agree that none of the three you mentioned had speed (and I'd mentioned Graham vs Watson), we did have speed on the outside to keep the safeties honest - and Ginn isn't doing that for us right now...

Also, the offensive line afforded Brees plenty of time yesterday to go downfield with it, but you can only give Ginn so many targets because of suspect long route running and unreliable hands...
