15 TD passes to go for Brees to become all time leader
Can he surpass Manning?
From one legend to another... I would love to see Brees do this. It would be fitting after these guys have had similar careers and a statistical dominance including performing at high levels late in their careers. |

Re: 15 TD passes to go for Brees to become all time leader
He certainly can, and should THIS year, and I think he plays at least one more year, possibly more if he stays upright enough and his body doesn't fall apart abruptly like Peyton's did. That dude went from MVP to losing his job before coming back and limping through one last playoff run, in a very short time.
The only question is can he outlast Brady to retain the record. |

Re: 15 TD passes to go for Brees to become all time leader
Yeah, I thought it was sad years ago watching Peyton's body break down. He was a shell of his former self and as many of us like to joke; the Broncos defense carried his corpse to a second ring.
I felt the same way watching a 41 year old Favre struggle all through 2010 and Dan Marino in 1999 was painful to witness. It's sad watching legends like that struggle and unable to do anything. With that said, I don't think Brees can play until he's 45. I want him to get the record and WE win the SB this year so he can retire. He deserves to go out on top, riding off into the sunset with that 2nd ring. |

The record is 539, Brady is at 528 and Brees is at 522; Brees was 2nd until his thumb injury. https://www.pro-football-reference.c..._td_career.htm |

I don’t think Brees will fall off that quickly. Favre and Manning looked like old men wearing NFL uniforms when they fell off. Look at all the shots Favre took towards the end. Peyton was dealing with a neck injury. Brees looked fresh yesterday. In fact, he didn’t look like a guy north of 40.

He reads Ds better than most QBs, allowing him to know where the open man will be sooner. His accuracy also allows him to makes throws earlier, not waiting for the receiver to get more separation.
I don’t see him retiring soon. |

Re: 15 TD passes to go for Brees to become all time leader
Favre was also a mobile QB back in his prime and he took some punishment for that.
I think what kept Favre going was that he still had a rocket arm and most of his arm strength in his older years. Favre was throwing bombs in 2007, 2008 and 2009 when he was thought to be regressing. His 2009 campaign was one of his best career seasons. Manning started to lose his arm in 2013. A lot of people don't realize that cause they look at his stats from 2013 and how he broke all the records, but watch tape and you can see where he threw some ugly passes that year. I have long argued that 2012 was really the best year for Manning and those Broncos teams. He wins MVP that year if not for Adrian Peterson. Denver most likely reaches the SB if they don't give up that Flacco hail mary pass and I have no doubt, they would've beat a banged up injury riddled Pats team, then handled business against the 49ers in the SB. The big drop off though came at the end of 2014 when his stats just tanked. Brees had a similar decline at the end of last year when his stats dropped to the floor, which raised some serious concerns. Going into 2015, everyone just assumed Manning would be OK and then they got a brutal wake up call early on with how bad his arm had declined. I don't see Brees or Brady playing until they are 45. Brady is DONE this year but he'll probably still break the TD pass by throwing 3-5 yard dink and dunks where the receiver goes 10-15 yards. |

Brady will keep on going
his ego can't stand it unless Kraft wants him out, he wins the super bowl or gets injured he rarely gets hit - but when he does he folds under pressure Drew steps up in the pocket and knows where his line is going. He was pleasantly elusive when he evaded that sure sack, stayed upright and fired a pass for a first down in the first quarter |

And I have no doubt that Brees can continue to perform at a high level until the age of 45. He may not choose to keep playing that long IF he no longer enjoys the game to the degree that he obviously does at this point in time. But, there is no way he quits until he has those career records locked up ... in other words ... AFTER Brady retires. |
