Re: Drew Brees, 'Our Best Football Needs To Be Ahead Of Us'
Good attitude to have for this team.
This year's Saints are starting to remind me of the 2010 Packers. On paper, that was a really stacked Packers team that never quite reached their full potential due to injuries. They went 10-6 and a lot of those losses piled up due to the injuries they were suffering. They lost RB Grant and TE Finley for the year and Rodgers even missed games due to injuries. Despite all this, they had impressive games; including the loss to the Pats in Foxboro where they got up 21-7 early with Matt Flynn starting at QB. But when they were healthy, that was a juggernaut. Had they been healthy all year, they most likely finish 12-4 or 13-3. The way they throttled Atlanta in the post season and got up 21-3 on the Steelers early proved they were a great team. Pittsburgh didn't score a TD until Charles Woodson broke his arm. We could be like that team, except we've won most of our games and didn't succumb to injuries. That Packers team still needed a bit of luck too with the Eagles missing those easy field goals and then throwing a pick in the wildcard round. Depth, strong defensive play and coaching are essential to making a SB run and this year, we've got all 3. |
