Re: USA Today/Saints Wire: Sean Payton doesn't excuse Falcons loss with lopsided officiating
Refs didn't make us not score a touchdown at home and get held without double digit numbers at the Dome for the first time in the Sean Payton era.
Refs didn't make our 40 year old quarterback suddenly look aged and declined. Refs didn't tell the defense to get slaughtered on 3rd down. Refs didn't tell the offensive line and defense to keep making a lot of those boneheaded penalties; yes a lot of them were legit. And while we're at it, to play fair, let's talk about all the calls on the Falcons for false starts; something that would've helped us if we didn't keep shooting ourselves in the foot on third downs. It's not like every single call went against us. Usually in NFL games, there are bad calls on both sides, but fans will only focus on the ones that hurt their team. I swear, between Bountygate and the non-call, this fan base had their brains broken. When the refs are the biggest blame of a 17 point loss, that's evidence we live in La La Land... It's always the refs fault for some reason, even when the game is a blowout loss. |
