Observations from the Saints win over the Panthers

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Ginn needs to see the bench or the unemployment line. It's difficult to watch him hurt our team near enough every week....

Dizz...

Who are you going to play in his place? It gets worse with Tre'Quan Smith...

We literally have four (4) active WRs on the roster; best WR in football; an old, slow "speed" WR; a regressing developmental 3R reach WR, and a recently promoted practice squad WR who's got more hair than game...

PJ Williams is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE in coverage...GAAAAAAAARRRRRRBAGE!

That stated, he's damn good in the box and hits well at the line of scrimmage.

I'm thinking that CJ G-J is not showing well in practice or at the whiteboard for the coaches. But when the lights turn on he's better than PJ! And I doubt he'd let a WR just run right by knowing the Safety is on the other side of the field and not on his side covering deep.

That Ref and his crew...WORSE than PJ in coverage. Didn't think that was possible, for anything in the NFL to be as bad as PJ in coverage, but that guy proved me wrong.

The 4th and 1 conversion and that BS holding call where the DE falls over from diving to far and getting off balance and the LT touches him afterwards on top of his shoulder was ridiculous.

We don't have the luxury of benching him.

But many were content that this team does not need a #2, 3 or hell #4 WR.

There is Michael Thomas & a bunch of bodies running around at WR. Cook has shown up though at the TE position.

Meanwhile Grayson is still out there. He's probably hungrier too.

A good football business argument could be made to have cut Ginn, kept Cyril Grayson...

Even if he ran the correct routes and still dropped the ball he'd be an improvement over what Ginn is giving in terms of effort, results...

And Grayson really is faster than everyone else and can back it up and would likely show up for a challenge unlike Ginn...

And also contribute on special teams with returns. We wouldn't have Kamara back there if we had Grayson.

In my mind and having watched him in training camp .. CG knew the playbook & was lining up correctly pre snap + he's a damn burner with world class speed. C'mon coach, you can't use this guy in that offense?

I know he had a few "mishaps" on covering punts @ t/camp but certainly I would have liked to see him more involved with this offense.

Anyway .. "we're on to Atlanta" .

Help me with this one brother. I understand what you are thinking but not sure you have thought it through?

Ginn is a speed guy, that’s why he’s on the roster, problem is that he isn’t a hands receiver and nearly all of his catches are body catches. Now run through the mechanics in your head, long ball.... how in the **** do we have a body catching speed guy.... how do you hit a body catcher in stride with a long ball? I’m not completely convinced Drew isn’t aware of this and shorts him on occasion to force a body catch. Ginn should be limited to crossing routes where he can get separation and body catch.

All of that said, if he can’t catch then why can’t you bench him? It’s not like we need his hands.
