what do Cowboys have to do with clinching? Its really between the Saints/49ers/Packers.

Not my site just one I frequent, but Dallas could technically win out and be 11-5.

If we beat the falcons we're no worse than 10-6 and if the Cowboys lose to Bills they can't be better than 10-6 and would lose tiebreaker to us since we beat them.

Thus worse we could do at that point would be #3 seed

Seeding.
There are other factors, but Cowboys losing, us winning would help us secure #3 spot.
The Packers losing was the best thing for us. If the Pac had won, we’d be in a 3 way tie for #1. Packers would have the advantage. That would be bad because if ya look at the Packers remaining schedule, it’s bottom feeding teams. Now we control our own positioning.

Not talking home field yet. This is just clinching a playoff spot. The big news here is that a Saints win Thursday wins the division no matter what happens afterwards. So it's just a matter of seeding after that.

What I heard on TV last night was if we win out from here, we're the #1 seed. If we win Thursday, we're in the playoffs....somewhere.

Both true. Winning out would have the Saints at worst in a tie with SF with a win over them, thus securing the #1 seed.

A win on Thursday secures the division. Guarantees a home playoff game and moves the Saints one win closer to a bye.

The pack losing yesterday puts the Saints/49ers winner in complete control of HFA for the NFC. The Saints just have to do their part to get where they want to go.

I never follow who has to win or lose for us to find out where we are in the playoffs. I just want the Saints to get the best possible seeding for the playoffs based on what we've done as a team. Of course, I would prefer the number one seed. It worked very well for us 10 years ago.
