this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; 1. Davenport ended last game on a great note and started this game the same way with a great sack. 2 sacks, 4 tackles (one for a loss) and 2 forced fumbles might be his best statline from a game ...

Observations from the Saints win over the Falcons
1. Davenport ended last game on a great note and started this game the same way with a great sack. 2 sacks, 4 tackles (one for a loss) and 2 forced fumbles might be his best statline from a game so far.
2. Trequan Smith with some great blocking again early in the game. I never heard was his injury was that made him miss some time in the middle of the game. 3. Taysom Hill is simply an amazing athlete. 4. Shy Tuttle with the play of the game. Great to pick the ball and the stiffarm to Ryans face was just icing on top. 5. Eli Apple has been pretty good so far this season but today he looked like Ken Crawley. Bad technique and never getting his head around to locate the ball. 6. Offence as a whole looked stale today but the running game felt especially anemic. Kamara's statline looks good but thats about it. 7. Drops! Thomas dropped one, Kamara dropped one, Cook dropped two and unsurprisingly Ginn dropped another one. Two of those drops should have been TDs. We can't have stuff like that against the 49ers. 8. Our run D was very stout again. Some yards to find on the outside but the middle was clogged. The hit by Alonso was a thing of Beauty. 9. Brees looked good again but he didn't get much help from the pass catchers. 10. Cameron Jordan! What a STUD. His 13,5 sacks, as it stands right now, is a career best for a season. |
W.T. Sherman is my favorite General. After all he did order Atlanta to be burned to the ground.

Re: Observations from the Saints win over the Falcons
Glad for any win, and certainly a division clinching one against the Clowns, BUT...
The finish to that game SUCKED!!! Is Kamara still hurt??? He did little on the ground and looked scared of the ball on onside kicks. I was reminded of the onside kickoff in the Bourbon Bowl in Waterboy. “Oh yeah, there’s my #####!" Letting that game get close was pathetic. It took 9 sacks and 3 turnovers to beat Atlanta. Either stat by itself should have been enough! The defense went soft, the offense went to sleep at times and the penalties again were killers. We play like that vs 69ers and we’ll get spanked... |

We need to work on our "hands" team.

Re: Observations from the Saints win over the Falcons
Great win for us and a lot of positives amongst some definite negatives! Penalties are killing us, SP still needs to get this sorted and the dropped passes! Also, how do we let the Falcons recover 3 onside kicks! That needs sorting! Anyway, we got the win and the division so I guess thats all that matters. We will need what amounts to perfection on all sides of the ball against the 49ers though! Hopefully the Saints will use the extra time they have before that game and get these things ironed out! WHO DAT!

The team looked awful today on offense and seem to have no discipline given the number of penalties taken. As I watched the game last night, I was getting more and more concerned. This was against the Falcons....not the Patriots, Ravens or SF. I have confidence in Payton to right the ship, but they are taking on water badly!

Saints Defense ...
Specifically the D line stepped up. Cam, Davenport, Tuttle, Mr. Rookie aka CGJ were big time in key moments. Take some Taysom Hill had another "impact" with the block punt & was outstanding. |

Penalties are a BIG concern for me. It has to be adressed.
