Re: Davenport to have season ending foot surgery
what was once our deepest group is getting pretty thin. i guess we're lucky that shy tuttle has turned out to be so good. now it's on the rest of the d front to play with his effort to make up for this. it's possible, but imo it all comes down to, well, what it always comes down to. drew is going to have to play like a god from here on out. that's a lot of pressure to put on a guy who's almost 41. scoring 46 points a game might be necessary going forward with the way the secondary has been playing.
on a somewhat related note, i'm 1000% ok with not trading up in the draft for the next 100 years. now if you'll excuse me, i'm going to eat this bottle of tums and pray. |

Re: Davenport to have season ending foot surgery
No Davenport, no Rankins ... really sucks for both however Sheldon has had somewhat of a "down" year.
DC Dennis Allen will have to get really creative going forward. Same goes for coach Nielsen ... Oh well, they are still kicking it off on Monday Night. Next man up. |

Re: Davenport to have season ending foot surgery
We will because everyone else is dealing with it. 49ers are down several starters. Pats are on their 3rd center and no WR's, GB has no WR's. Good news is we dealt with the biggest injury in Brees and figured it out. Have to adjust game plans. Backups are not ideal but play to their strengths like we did with Teddy. |

Re: Davenport to have season ending foot surgery
Our D looked lost and confused without 2 starting LBs. now we lose 2 starting D lineman and we expect nothing to happen... oddly enough our healthiest group (DBs) are performing the worst.

I'll always have the next man up mentality but let's be real for a second ... the injury to Marcus and being out for the season is substantial. Kiko, Klein, Rankins, Thor & Davenport. Impact players ... I don't believe I've ever seen a Saints team hit that hard with injuries during a stretch run. |

Re: Davenport to have season ending foot surgery
I can see them limiting snaps over next 3 games for some of our starters. Division is wrapped up & we're no worse than a 3rd seed. 1st & 2nd seed is ideal, obviously, but we're guaranteed 1 home playoff game plus we're playing well on the road.
Playing with house money now. Health to key positions is a HUGE factor for a deep playoff run. |

if the offense stays dominant and we can exercise some load management i'm all for it, but this team is going to do everything they can to get that first round bye. its more important than most fans are willing to admit |
