Saints have not lost an ounce of belief in Alvin Kamara: 'His time is coming'

1 Attachment(s)
Bring up Alvin Kamaraís name around the New Orleans Saints training facility, and a mantra starts to become clear.

Quarterback Drew Brees said, ďI think his time is coming.Ē

Left tackle Terron Armstead said, ďOne of those games where he just explodes and goes crazy, itís coming soon.Ē

Head coach Sean Payton said, ďHis best football this seasonís ahead of him.Ē

When this trend was pointed out to Kamara himself he responded in kind, ďOh yeah, itíll come. Itíll come.Ē

All of these responses, in some way, are answers to the question Where has Alvin Kamara been?

Itís not like he just disappeared. In five games since returning from ankle and knee injuries that cost him two games, heís averaging 85 scrimmage yards per game. He had four straight games averaging better than 4.9 yards per carry before coming back to Earth last week against a San Francisco defense that held him to 25 yards on 13 carries. Heís averaging 97.6 scrimmage yards per game, which isnít too far off the pace he set last year (106.1) or in his Rookie of the Year campaign (97.1).

Maybe itís not a matter of raw numbers, but rather one of panache. The big plays that vaulted Kamara toward superstardom ó the broken tackles, the 40-yard zig-zags through flailing defenses, especially the touchdowns ó have been fewer and more far between this season.

Fairly or unfairly, the question lingers in reporterís notebooks and on Saintsí fans fingertips.

Oh, Kamara has seen the conspiracy theories online that heís simply not happy anymore now that his good friend Mark Ingram is playing for the Baltimore Ravens. He quickly dispelled that idea when he spoke in front of his locker Friday.

I think they're telling us he's finally healthy from his injury.
Can't wait for the Ginsu to start slicing and dicing his way through teams and appear like he's moving through alternate dimensions.

He's been playing hurt and lots of members here are trashing him and saying to trade him etc. Probably people that have never twisted an ankle or played a down of football. Cant believe the ignorance on this board sometimes.

Kinda like when people were starting to label Davenport as a bust. But really could not see how much he contributed. When his injury news came out, the same people started throwing in the towel. Make up your minds.

Watch Kamara go nuts once the playoffs start.

He's special.

I can’t believe this is even a question. people are so shell shocked from the last two years that the fact we are 10-3 and the first team to clinch a playoff birth has totally escaped them. We have overcome losing our HOF qb for 5 games, ****ty officiating and one of the toughest schedules in the league.
The Saints will be fine.

Hopefully he can get back to his old self. He put the team on his back vs the Seahawks.

RBs are a dime a dozen... Kamara is no different.

If he was doing just fine people wouldn't be righting articles like this.

Really bad coaching
You have Murray just pounding through a staunch d- line
Then see Kamara get stonewalled at the same point of attack

His injury is part of that
He isn’t cutting as sharply as before

Go with Murray and let AK take the screens in space etc.
THe gadget plays to Taysom Hill completely break the flow of things.
