Players care about it because many of them have Pro Bowl incentives written into their contracts.

Hopefully there won't be any Saints playing in the Pro bowl because they'll be getting ready to play for the Lombardi. I guess the reserves will be thrilled though just to get in. It looks good on their resume.

Yeah, but there's personal pride in it as well, especially for linemen as it's about the only recognition they get because of the spotlight on skill positions...

Being named All-Pro is real recognition. The pro bowl names so many players, due to no one wanting to play in the game, that it is too watered down to mean anything.

Sure, it's a proverbial pin you get to wear on your jacket, but that's about it.
